Offering Aesthetic Treatments As Gift-Giving Options

Sep 12, 2008
Gift-giving can be a difficult process as shoppers struggle to find the right size and style for friends and family. Increasingly, gift-givers are turning to gift cards as alternative gifts, allowing the recipient to choose what they need and when they need it.

Expanding from retail store gift cards, shoppers are looking for other gift card options to offer a unique yet personalized present. Gift certificates for services such as spas, aesthetic treatments and hair salons are gaining popularity as people shy away from another sweater for the holidays and instead receive a gift that helps them improve appearance and self-esteem.

Giving such a personal gift can take some tact, however. Most givers would not want the recipient to take it too personally or as a hint or suggestion that something about them is not up to par. Some options to give the gift certificate in the proper spirit can include:

Include a personalized note, which lets the recipient know that the offer is for them to do something for themselves that they normally might not take the time or money to do, while not being specific about a particular treatment or service.

Offer a gift certificate to a national chain of aesthetic laser treatment centers to ensure that the gift can be used wherever the recipient is or may be in the future. Some spas and boutiques are limited to single locations so it can be more difficult to secure an appointment time or be in physical proximity of the location.

Don't make a big production out of the gift certificate. Let the recipient know that you've heard her or him talk about wanting to make personal changes and the gift is something that they can choose to do for themselves without any pressure.

Often times, you'll hear friends and family complain about those few extra inches they want to lose, how they want to get rid of age spots or how they want to quit shaving forever. A gift card for laser aesthetic treatments can provide them the incentive they've been looking for to finally do something about it.

For laser hair removal, the only way to permanently reduce the amount of unwanted hair is to damage the hair follicle to a point where is unable to produce hairs. The hairs that are destroyed with each treatment are destroyed permanently. While patient protocol is determined on a case-by-case basis, on average a minimum of six treatments spread about two months apart per treatment, is recommended.

Skin rejuvenation treatments such as FotoFacials target darker, pigmented lesions and stimulates new collagen production and eliminates older, outer skin layers through microdermabrasion to reveal newly-toned and revitalized skin.

Skin rejuvenation uses advanced combined-source technology, which combines the beneficial effects of pulsed laser light with the extra safety and fine-tuned control of radio frequency (RF) energy. The number of skin rejuvenation sessions required for a complete course of treatment varies based on the type of skin conditions being treated and individual characteristics of the patient.

To enhance the effectiveness of skin rejuvenation treatments, gentle exfoliation using microdermabrasion takes place between the skin rejuvenation treatments. Microdermabrasion uses fine crystals that are blown over the skin and then immediately collected using the instrument's vacuum head, removing old skin and allowing the more youthful and radiant skin cells from the skin rejuvenation therapy to come to the surface of the skin more quickly.

Finally, noninvasive treatments like VelaShape can literally take inches off the waist, buttocks, thighs, upper arms and more in as little as four treatments and with no surgery or downtime. The treatment combines heat, massage and suction to literally shrink the size of your fat cells, providing a decreased circumference of the treatment area. VelaShape is also very effective on the lumps and bumps we see on our backside, thighs and belly - cellulite!

VelaShape is the first (and only) process approved by the FDA to temporarily reduce the appearance of cellulite and reduce thigh circumference. VelaShape is a clinically proven procedure that many Americans are choosing instead of surgical techniques. The noninvasive VelaShape device uses something called elos technology, invented by laser developer Syneron. It employs bi-polar RF waves and infrared energy to improve skin texture, reduce the appearance of cellulite and cut down on localized fat deposits by literally shrinking your fat cells.

Improvements from VelaShape often are visible within as few as four office visits. It obtains results much more quickly than other techniques because it uses high-powered and safe forms of energy. Typically, with four to six treatments spaced one week apart, patients see thinner thighs and better skin texture. Some patients have even see results on other areas of the body including stomachs, love handles, hips and buttocks.

Whichever type of treatment a friend or family member is seeking, offering a gift certificate can eliminate the guesswork of present shopping and create a tactful way to get them to stop talking and start doing something to improve their self esteem.
