Diamond Eyes, Diamond Dreams, Diamond Ways

Sep 12, 2008
Until this past decade the diamond trading world was a cold and cold blooded business of secretive agents in alleyways in Antwerp. It took an Australian company which changed the world diamond business into more of the free for all it is today. In the past, a secretive, tight cartel delivered a tightly controlled amount of diamonds to the world market. Then came the so called blood diamonds from Angola, where a loose diamond explosion had diamonds and land mines scattered all around the country side, to the fear and death of many locals.

That business has been cut way down, areas have been cleared of land mines and less hostile regimes now in place can change much. Now, diamonds on the market no longer carry this taint. Either from australian burning desert, or up in Canada's Arctic north the massive new diamond pipes spiral down for miles under the surface. What this means to you and I, is for industrial or our residential use, this all means that the world has many years of high grade cluster diamonds that fall apart into large gem size.

Locals are being given priority in jobs, and world class expert training takes place on the site. In view of global warming melting Arctic ice, a polar bear is engraved on the base of Canadian diamonds. This irony is not lost on native groups who see their former life style gone with the ice, and diamond mining jobs are a comforting respite of good quality employment and way to maintain their families. Housing near the job sites and year round roads connect the sites to the outside work, and ironically transport is easier in winter months.

In winter the many lakes and rivers are frozen and faster to get around on. Owners in the syndicates developing the diamond mines are varied and include many shop keepers from Fifth Avenue jewelry stores. Diamonds are pure carbon that have gone through a hellish transformation. Beginning as a seam of carbon in the state of coal, some lightning strikes come up from inner earth to the surface in seams of light through coal: the completed process leaves behind narrow seams of diamonds in their wake.

The new Canadian diamond seams are tightly clustered and break down into large ring size clusters. Information about which rock formations in a sea area hold the rare diamond pipe is complicated by factors as diverse as the magnetic pole location nearby and solar flares. Aircraft computers and cameras nowadays can be down loaded into corporate computers while in flight, as the process begins with pilots in small aircraft hanging ultra scope camera that see down below the earth's surface.

Most diamond clusters are tightly packed together and require careful skills with diamond experts to handle these often tempermental diamonds. Not so the new Canadian diamonds, which tend to more lightly crumble open into gem and ring sized quality diamonds. After camera scans and scientific test drills confirm, a new diamond mine site is in the process of being created. This process goes to prospecting crews to technical people and mine site preparaton, usually with a large closed space for central workers areas.

Trained experts in Canada's north train natives how to process new diamonds, that are allowing jewelry sales and bargains with a clear conscience. Win win win works well in diamond drilling, and diamond minds are quick to see the opportunities that lie about.
