Beautiful Skin Doesn't Take a Photoshop Expert

Sep 16, 2008
Have you ever noticed that any celebrity or athlete that is portrayed on a magazine cover has perfect, flawless skin. You will never find a zit, a pock mark, an out of place freckle or even stray wrinkle. It can be frustrating to look in the mirror after see a myriad of those images and find our less than perfect skin. Sometimes it's easy to find ourselves wishing for a Photoshop program that works just as well on our face as it does on the magazine covers. Although anyone has yet to discover such a program there are things you can do to improve the look of your skin naturally.

First: Wash your skin once a day with one non-soap cleanser

It is important to understand that the "more is better" principle doesn't apply here. You will hurt your skin if you adopt the philosophy, "if washing my face is good for my skin then washing it twice will be extra good". This line of thinking will dry out your skin taking away necessary oils that prevent dry skin and wrinkles. Simply gently wash your face once a day.

Second: Don't Cover your skin in Make-up

Too many women are hiding their skin rather than taking care of it. Our skin may not be perfect but make-up can be a vicious cycle if we aren't careful. Often we layer on the make-up because we want to hide the flaws of our skin, well by layering on the make-up we are trapping in oils and dirt that end up being even more harmful for our skin creating more flaws. Use make-up sparingly and you may find your skin actually clears up some.

Third: Practice good sun protection

The sun can be one of the most damaging things for your skin because it causes things like wrinkles, burns, dry skin and even cancer. One easy way to start is by buying a moisturizer that has some SPF in it. That can give you the daily cover you need, but even more so when you know you are going to be outside for long periods of time be sure to apply sun block and reapply as directed. It can save you years of grief down the road.

Your skin doesn't have to be perfect to be beautiful but it does have to be healthy. Learning to take care of your skin doesn't have to be hard and above are some daily things you can do to improve the condition of your skin. Start today and see results for years down the road.
