Sep 17, 2008
Is someone from your family suffering from kidney stones? If that is the case, few people are able to see your anguish or that of your dear one. Would you like to know the causes of kidney stone?

You may or may not be surprised to know that if one of your parents has kidney stone then the chances of getting it to you are unfortunately very high. Medical studies tell us that kidney stone is transferable through generations. So then, heredity can be one of the causes of kidney stone. The majority of the kidney stones are made of calcium and hypercalciuria (which are high levels of calcium in the urine). It is risky one. There is a predisposition to high level of calcium in the urine that may be carried from generation to generation.

There are persons with renal tubular acidosis and people that have problems metabolizing different chemicals including cystine (an amino acid), oxalate, (that's a type of salt), and uric acid (as in gout). These persons are prompt to kidney stone and one of the basic reasons is heredity. It is one of the fundamental causes.

What else causes those kidney stones in your system? Geographical location. Medical studies show that some people have kidney stone partly due to geographic location. To give you an example, persons living in Southern United States have this risk increased. These geographical regions are called: regional 'stone belts'. The possibility of getting an infection is higher just for the fact of the warm climate and because of dehydratation, that means the water levels in their bodies are low.

And so, the urine can become highly concentrated making these chemicals to bind together and that leads to the beginning of forming nidus of the stone.

One thing to know is that diet is not a direct cause of the kidney stone. If you have an individual that's already prone to stone formations, then taking foods that have high calcium contents, just increases the risk of kidney stone formation. For that reason, you should get away from foods with high calcium content. As far as the person who doesn't have a history of kidney stones, he does not need to worry about the diet as the prone person.

But keep in mind that the person with kidney stone should take a proper diet so as not to encourage the stone to develop.

Intake of over the counter products (OTC) can elevate the risk of forming kidney stone. : People who take water-pills or diuretics on a regular basis and those that consume high amounts of antiacids that contain calcium, end up increasing the calcium content in their urine and consequently, may increase the risk of forming stones. Those Patients with HIV who take the medication indinavir (Crixivan) have the possibility of forming indinavir stones.

Understanding the cause of the problem can help solve the problem itself. Know the causes of kidney stone. It can help one take preventive measures. That way, kidney stones do not become a problem.

We all know that an ounce of daily prevention is better than cure. You should know that the presence of kidney stone in system has a lot to do with our daily eating habits or the way we live.Curiosly enough, healthy food with lots of calcium content may create a serious problem. The root cause of kidney stone is the strong build up of calcium in our body. Try to understand what your body wants.
