How to Move From Text Dating to Real Dating - 3 Laws of Texting

Sep 17, 2008
Text dating is quite a convenient dating system. It's very simple, stress free and easy to do. All you have to do is login to a text dating program like Match or Meetmoi and give them your information and the kind of mate you're looking for. After that, they'll start texting you people that you might match up with. Sounds simple? That's because it is. The hardest part is going from text dating to real dating.

Texting is very addictive. It starts off as a fun thing to do and then turns into something you can't get enough of. It's not hard to find people that are now communicating more through text messaging than in real life. It's a very unhealthy lifestyle especially since real dating has so many more benefits to it.

The real mission with text dating is to find someone you match up with, send a few messages to see if there is any interest, and then meet up for a bite to eat or something casual. Below, I'm going to explain the 3 crucial text dating laws you must follow if you want to better your chances of meeting in the real world.

Law #1 - Keep your text dating relationship to two weeks or less - In my years of coaching men on this subject I have noticed that it becomes a lot harder to get off the phone after two weeks of text dating. Overall, texting is just a step in the process. Consider your relationship stuck on the phone if you decide to take it past two weeks.

Law #2 - Be important and valuable - For men, remember to flirt, banter and communicate that you're an important person and don't instantly respond back when she texts you. For women, keep a flirty context and drop lines that will turn him on, such as, "just looking cute (or sexy) for this party I'm going to" and give him signals whenever he does something that works for you. The key point is, we don't act on something unless we see there is value, so come across valuable when you text.

Law #3 - Make your first meeting casual - Meeting someone for the first time should never be a huge event, keep it casual. Why? Because you don't know the person and your main goal is not to impress them, but to see if they are worthy of pursuing. How could you do that if you have a whole night planned out and you're worried if the person will like you. Waste no money or time on the first date, and if it goes smooth and there's a real connection, then spiff up the second date. When I say casual, I mean meeting up for some coffee, a bite to eat, a game in the park, movie, bar, BBQ with friends, etc.

The key point to remember is the phone is not a place to have relationships, but instead a step in the process of taking the relationship to the real world.
