Buy Wine Online: Health Benefits and Health Risks

Jan 6, 2017
Studying alcohol effects on human health over many years can be very tricky. For now, we know that red wine may promote a longer lifespan, protects us against certain cancer and can improve our mental health. A new review published in journal Food and Function make several statements how moderate drinking can provide maximum health benefits. Past studies have found some evidence that only moderate wine consumption can be beneficial, so those people who drink heavily or abuse alcohol may end up with a higher risk of certain diseases. It is well known that women absorb alcohol more rapidly than men because of the lower body content, there for moderate drinking will be certainly a lower quantity for woman. Up to 1 drink per day for woman and 2 per man can lower the risk of a heart attack. Red wine tannins contain procyanidins so moderate wine drinkers have 30% less risk than nondrinkers of developing heart disease.

Another study from university from Spain reported in Medical journal details that drinking red wine may lower the risk of depression. This view of wine consumption gathered data on 2,683 men and 2,822 women aged from 55 to 80 years over a seven-year period. The participants had to define a list of standard meals and food frequency every year, which involved details on their alcohol consumption as well as their mental health. This research found that men and women who drank five to seven glasses of wine per week were less likely to suffer from depression.

While heavily drinkers put themselves at greater risk of heart disease, red wine can also prevent colon cancer, says Scientists from the University of Leicester, UK. Wine positive effects can reduce the rate of bowel tumors by approximately 50%. Specifically, resveratrol was the compound found to have the beneficial effect. The resveratrol in wine comes from the skins of red grapes. Blueberries, cranberries and nuts are also sources of resveratrol. The concentration of resveratrol is not equal among all varieties of wine it depends from climate conditions so grape derived from North America and certain Australian wine grapes are more prone to have substantially a higher amount of resveratrol than other grapes derived from North America.

Wine's anti-aging properties have been talked about for over one thousand years. Monasteries throughout Europe were convinced that their monks' longer life spans, compared to the rest of the population, was partly due to their moderate, regular consumption of wine.
In the Journal of woman Health, the scientist explained the chemicals in the skins of red grape reduce estrogen levels while raising testosterone in premenopausal women - which results in a lower risk of developing breast cancer.
One of the short-term alcohol effects is to cause behavioral changes and memory impairment. A team from Loyola University Medical Center found that moderate red wine intake can reduce the risk of developing dementia. The research analyzed data from 19 nations, gathering data only from moderate red wine drinkers. It was proven how the wine helps maintain a good blood supply to the brain. The Journal of Neuropsychiatric Disease and Treatment that moderate red wine drinkers had a 23% lower risk of developing dementia compared to people who rarely or never consumed the alcoholic beverage.

However, Australian red wine drinkers tend to share similar lifestyle habits - better diets, regular exercise, non-smoking - that may in themselves be a factor in the supposed positive health benefits compared to drinkers of beer and spirits or those who abstain completely.
