How To Be A Better Guitar Player

By Jim Brown
Sep 26, 2008
Demonstrating how well someone is good at guitar playing is a lot simpler than to teach someone to be a better one. There are basically some tips that one can follow to become better in guitar playing however it would be entirely up to you. You need to be motivated and driven with your ardent desire to learn. It should not be because you saw someone and you wanted to become just like him. The good way to go is to trust yourself and just do whatever you want to do. Do not let anyone's playing influence how you do yours because you will only end up copying his or her styles.

Each has their own way and style of playing the guitar, what is cool for the other guy may not look really cool on you. You just need to be yourself and that is the first tip you will ever hear perhaps from every guitar player I have come to know. Of course, we all have our set of idolized guitar player and somehow at one point or another we wanted to be just like him. However, the kind of music that will result is not our own but just the subconscious copy of the music we loved.

Guitar playing takes a lot of devotion and dedication to the task. You can't just take the instrument and expect to learn it for a few hours and master in within 24 hours. You just can't do this and there is no easy way to do it than to devote ample time and dedicate your attention to it. It is about rectifying everything that is the wrong notion into playing the guitar. You need to put your all out if you expect to be a better player, perhaps even better than the person you idolize. However, you should always remember that there are those who are adept in guitar playing as if they were born that way and they are. They just realized about it later in their life.

You need to set the tone of the learning process and no one can do that but you. If you expect to learn the way it is played, careful planning of how you are going to learn it is one good way. If you fail to do careful planning then all effort in practicing can be worthless in the end. You need to basically cut down the learning syllabus into manageable pieces, pieces that you could easily understand and set your pace base on it.

The result of your training will also depend whether your instrument is properly tuned according to the standard. Because if your instrument is not properly tuned and you already have made some progress with your work, you may find it not easy to play a standard tuned guitar because it simply does not sound like the guitar you are using. You can see that significance when you try playing someone else's guitar. You will feel that the output music simply is strange and unfamiliar.
