Renters Insurance With One Who Has Poor Credit

Many people do not fully understand the concept of renters insurance but just consider how many times you actually rent equipment like a car, motor home, house or even a boat. Rental insurance covers the repair or replacement costs caused by damage or theft of an item you are renting.

For instance, if you don't own your own home, and are renting instead, you may think that you're covered by your landlord's insurance policy.

It is true that the landlord will have insurance on his property but it is only for situations where damage is done to the structure itself.

This insurance does not cover your personal possessions or liability and if you cannot you replace them immediately, out of pocket then you need renters insurance. This can be a bigger problem where any damage to the building is a result of your actions at which point any costs will be the responsibility of the tenants.

Renter's insurance has another benefit which you may not have considered. If you consider that a person's welfare is the responsibility of the renter then any accident could result in expensive medical bills and even attorney's fees. This means you are covered for that person's medical expenses, legal costs if they should decide to sue, and any damages they might be awarded.

When renting a car you need to check your auto insurance policy to see if it covers rental car insurance as some do offer some rental car insurance coverage and quite often, your credit card will pay for damages to a rental car in the event of a wreck. If either your own auto insurance or the credit card is not able to provide insurance cover then the cost of renters insurance is not expensive at anywhere between seven to thirteen dollars per day which is much cheaper than replacing the car.

Of course there are many more areas where rental insurance can be used even if you are renting sports equipment for a vacation. Some people believe that rental insurance is just another way to get more money out of someone renting something but remember that it does not belong to you and replacing it could be very, very expensive should something untoward happen. The amount you'll pay for insurance depends on your location, your deductible, the company and policy you choose, and on whether or not you decide to pay for additional coverage. The best thing to do is look online and arrange the highest deductible you can afford as this will reduce the premium considerably.
