The cost of the Jenny Craig diet depends on the type that you select. The diet has short-term plans and long-term plans. Jenny Craig is currently advertising an interesting statistic, they claim that the participants spend on average only one more dollar per day on food costs than someone who's not on the diet.

Today, September 28, 2008 I spoke to Jenny Craig representative. She informed me about the options available in the program and the associated costs. First off you describe is called the 20 pounds for $20 program. This program last 10 weeks includes weekly meeting expenses but does not include meals. The meeting is with a professional weight loss consultant.

The meals cost between $12 and $18 everyday. For this price you get three meals, dessert, vitamin bars, and snacks. The meals themselves are frozen entres developed by Jenny Craig after years of trial and error. A majority people find them tasty, satisfying, and sizable. If at the end of 10 weeks you haven't reached your weight loss goal you can sign up for additional meal plans but you will be paying additional costs.

The other diet option that was described to me by the Jenny Craig representative is known as the Jenny Craig rewards plan. This is a one-year program that costs $359 per year plus your food costs. This plan includes weekly meetings with the consultant. The rewards aspect of this plan is as follows: during the first 10 weeks you will receive a 10% discount on meals, during the next 10 weeks you will receive a 20% discount on food, and during the remaining 32 weeks you will receive a 35% discount on all meals.

According to Jenny Craig representative that I spoke with, the savings you'll realize through these discounts more than make up for the $359 sign up costs. As you can see you will be spending some money, but the program is comparable to your everyday food costs and the statistic quoted by Jenny Craig that you'll only be spending one dollar more per day on food seems reasonable.
