Travelling on a London flight with a Bomb in my luggage
When you check-in for your London flight or in fact any flight from a UK airport since the security concerns have been heightened you are asked a few simple questions. These simple questions are for everyones safety.
To make sure you know what is in your case the check-in staff usually ask whether you packed your luggage yourself. This is to make sure you know what is in your bags
When you check-in you are also asked if the luggage you are checking in has not been left unsupervised. This is to make sure nobody could have placed anything in your luggage and is for everyone?s safety.
Even though there have been many well publicized security issues at airports throughout the world and in the UK people still think it is amusing to say 'there is a bomb in my bag'
People soon cease to see the funny side when they and the other comedians that say this to airport staff and are arrested and later appear in court. Surprisingly this happens regularly at airports throughout the UK. The airport staff are all instructed to take these comments seriously.
Jail sentences are not uncommon and at best a fine and community service is the normal result for people who make these stupid comments.
Once a bomb comment is made it is possible for airport and aircraft to be evacuated which will cause severe disruption and could cause other passengers flights to be delayed thus missing onward connecting flights and facing long waits.
So after checking that you packed the luggage yourself and that it has been in your possession the whole time you only have to worry about any excess baggage charges unless someone travelling with you makes a bomb in the luggage wisecrack.
