William Rast: Homage In Clothing
The founders of William Rast jeans are none other than Justin Timberlake and his life-long friend Trace Ayala, who grew up in Memphis, Tennessee. William is the name of Justin Timberlake's grandfather, while Rast is the name of Trace Ayala's. Their hope was that the William Rast line would create a new homegrown type of trend that was deserving of their grandfather's names.
Trendy and inspired is how anyone who sees or wears the William Rast jeans describe them and the rest of the creations of the two life long friends. Justin Timberlake and Trace Ayala worked hard to get the concept right and only then did they believe the William Rast jeans were ready to set a new trend and give honor to their grandfathers' names. The mixture of Memphis, Tennessee down home feel with the fast-paced chic feel of Hollywood, California was the final concept agreed on by the founders and the focus on the next step, getting it designed and to the public.
While the William Rast jeans and clothing line debuted in November 2005, the first fashion show was not until approximately a year later, in October of 2006. Justin Timberlake and Trace Ayala worked with the best designers in the business to prepare for the show, which worked out wonderfully. William Rast was a big success.
The mix of Tennessee and Hollywood is at the core of the concept and design of the William Rast jeans. Justin Timberlake and Trace Ayala designed the slash v logo and made sure the design was placed on both back pockets of each pair of William Rast jeans. The unique logo lets everyone know when someone is wearing a pair of William Rast jeans.
The men's William Rast jeans come in flare and straight leg designs. The women's jeans are available in capri, trouser, boot-cut, flare, straight leg, shorts and skinny jean styles. All of the William Rast jeans are low rise, and fit to the body and play up the curves of the woman and form of the male physique. The William Rast jeans come in several colors as well as the listed styles.
The William Rast jeans and clothing line is hard to keep in stores. Many locations are selling out of the William Rast jeans as soon as the jeans arrive in the store. Is the obsession with William Rast jeans because of Justin Timberlake, or the provocative ads featuring Justin Timberlake and Erin Wasson, or it is the William Rast Jean itself? The comfort and style of the jeans make the wearer feel a little more laid back, while living in the crazy real world.
