Why The Blemish Treatments Of Your Youth Aren't Appropriate Now

Aug 17, 2007
Remember when you were a teenager and you dreaded waking up in the morning and looking in the mirror because you already knew that there were new pimples on your face for the entire world to behold? Your mom told you to stop eating chocolate and French fries and they'd go away, but who can give up comfort food at a time like this?

When you reached your twenties, the pimples magically disappeared. No longer did you have to slather on anti acne treatments. Now you were happy to get up in the morning, knowing that your beauty was assured as was your youthful confidence.

Now another couple of decades have gone by and you suddenly find yourself right back where you started from. Pimples have begun to erupt from your face just like they did when you were a teen and you can't get over the unfairness of the situation. Such is life, right? It's sad to say that those same raging hormones that left us unwilling to leave the house are now back in action. This time you get to have pimples and wrinkles and its almost too much to bear. Well, before you slink off back to the pharmacy, you should know that those same treatments that you used when you were a child may be way too harsh for your face now.

The best approach to take is one of maturity. Think back to when your mom did her beauty treatments and follow suit. Acne treatments that are designed for children will dry out your skin and cause the wrinkles to get another leg up on their journey across your face. You need a combination of exfoliate and moisturizing. One of the best exfoliates is oatmeal. You can use it to make a face mask by adding water to it to make a paste, then applying it to your skin. After it dries, rub it off in a gentle circular motion to remove the dead skin from your face. Next its time to tighten the pores back up. You can buy an expensive astringent or use what your mom did, witch hazel.

Afterwards, its time for some moisturizer. There are a lot of good moisturizers on the market that have collagen in them. These will help to plumpen the skin and ease wrinkles. A lot of the name brands are very costly, so try the generic ones instead. Many have the same ingredients and are available for a fraction of the cost of their designer cousins.

You don't have to sit back and suffer from the skin hassles that come with aging; you can fight back by taking good care of your skin. Before you know it, you'll feel like you are back in the glory days of your twenties with your smooth, beautiful skin.
