Use Photographic Memory Books to Learn to Recall Information Easily

By Kyle Richey

There are a number of books on the market that are designed to assist people in learning how to obtain a photographic memory. Photographic memory is not the same as eidetic memory though they are often confused. Eidetic memory is where a person can study an object or image for approximately half a minute, then be able to recall and describe the image down to even minute details. This is a skill that is often observed in children but less so in adults.

Most photographic memory books that teach you how to utilize this help you learn memory skills. With this, you don't capture a mental picture of what you see, but you learn certain tricks and tips to make recalling the information much easier. For example, if you're looking at a picture, or if you're looking at a block of text or some music, you can develop the ability to store that information into your memory, which in turn is often thought of as having a photographic memory.

There are different ways people train their memory, for example, most children memorized the alphabet by singing the alphabet song. The idea of setting the letter to music made it more fun to learn than simply through repetition.

One of the most fundamental means of learning for children is through repetition and association and photographic memory books teach the same skills that adults and older children can use to remember a variety of information.

Not All Books Teach Same Memory Habits

It's been shown that people learn differently because they have different types of learning patterns. Similarly, people can learn to train their memories with different methods that utilize their particular strengths. Those who write photographic memory books talk about the techniques that have worked for them. Oftentimes, those who have the ability to use these retention skills and have not yet learned of them can also use them to improve their memories.

However, another person may find this information completely useless, if he or she does not have the ability to utilize "photographic memory" learning techniques. Or, someone may be able to learn photographic memory skills, but may need the information presented in a different way. Unfortunately, many photographic memory books come from the same viewpoint when they try to teach this skill to their audiences.

However, different techniques are used in different books that can teach people to train their memories. If you are someone who is interested in having the ability to instantly and totally recall something, then, you may need to read more than one book to find specific techniques that work for you.

Improving a person's memory is high on the list of many individuals and there have even been drugs and natural remedies claiming to help improve memory. Similar to photographic memory books, they do not have the same positive impact on everyone and in most cases the ideas in the photographic memory books need to be adapted to the individual needs of the reader.
