Why I Don't Have the Ideal Body? Teenage Weight Loss

By Ricardo d Argence

Youth and dieting is a very controversial issue. While obesity in children and teens is at an all time high in the Western world, the reality of eating disorders and unrealistic ideals can't be ignored. Some teens really do need to lose weight but many do not. While most children should not be put on a severely restricted diet, weight management by a combined approach of a sensible diet and regular exercise will help to control their weight gain.

If a child consumes more food and calories than is required by their energy allowance, than those excess calories are converted to fat for storage. Conversely, if a child consumes less food and calories than is required by their energy allowance, than their body fat is converted to energy for the needed calories.

If you don't match what society says is an ideal body, what would you do about it? What do you do if you want to lose fat, gain muscle, or just fit into your favorite dress? Are you capable of changing your body?

Of course you can change your body, but how much depends on a number of things. Keep in mind that some of them you can control and some you can't.

Puberty. Another important affect on your weight and body growth is puberty. During puberty, it is common for boys and girls to gain weight and get taller. Boys will gain muscle and girls will notice an increase in body fat during this time due to the hormones that are being released. A lot of people may feel like they are overweight with these changes, however, they are very normal.

Genes. One really common question I get is, How come my friends and I look different? Believe it or not, genes play a huge role in your body type, from how much fat you retain from each meal to more obvious things like eye color and body proportions. You are at an increased risk for being overweight if your parents are overweight.

What you eat. There are many things in your life that you can't control but what you eat isn't one of them. Eating unnutritious food like french fries, chips, sweets, ad drinking sodas packs on the calories.

It is important to determine if you have an unrealistic concept of your body image or are truly overweight before starting an attempt to lose weight. Other people around you may also be able to help you decide whether weight loss is a good idea for you depending on your situation.
