The living organism known as mold has been around for millions of years and plenty of time and money has been spent learning how to get rid of mold. It comes in many forms and various colors, and is triggered by the growth of fungus. The airborne particles known as mold spores and certain factors can help the growth of mold. In order to materialize, mold needs four things; dampness, mold spores, food and humidity.

Mold can be found indoors and outdoors. It can mainly be found in places such as ceilings, wood, wallpaper, paint, carpets and drywall. It is common to find them in basement areas and shower cubicles inside the home environment. Some molds can be toxic and may be harmful to health; this is why it is essential to get rid of it. Symptoms can include headaches, sneezing, itchy red eyes, skin rashes and a running nose. There are even some people who suffer from mold allergies.

There are easy ways in which you can rid your property of mold. In fact something as common and ordinary as vinegar can be used to get rid of mold. You can use a bottle to spray the vinegar directly onto the affected areas like grout in tiles, shower cubicles and the seals on faucets. Mold can grow anywhere in the home so remember to check all areas thoroughly- that unused kitchen cabinet with its food remnants and dampness will be a perfect place for mold to form.

A portable air conditioner is a handy utensil to have. During the hot and humid weather it will help to stop mold growing in your home. The humidity of your property should be kept at approximately 30%-50% to be productive.

Similarly in the cold months you need a dehumidifier to help to control the mold growth. Again this needs to keep the humidity at 30%-50% to be effective. This way your home will still be at a comfortable temperature but will limit the chances of mold forming.

One of the commonest places to find mold is in the carpet. If you find that mold has settled on your carpet there are basically two options; you can replace the carpet with wooden flooring, or treat the carpet with baking soda. Leave the baking soda to sit on the carpet for a few hours and then vacuum off.

Having mold forming in your house or apartment can become quite a serious problem. There are professional people that you can call on to deal with the situation for you. An assessor can attend at your property and analyze the mold and determine the best course of treatment. Items such as dry wipe materials, HEPA vacuums and wet vacuums are common equipment used in tackling mold. It is useful to remember that after the treatment is completed there is a slight risk that mold spores that have been left in the air can cause the mold to reform.

Having mold in your home is unpleasant and potentially damaging to you and your family's health. As soon as you detect that mold could be forming in your home it is best to treat it as soon as possible-eradicate the problem before it becomes impossible to recover.
