The Internet for Businesses: Demystified Part 2 of 3 The Next Step

Aug 17, 2007
You already know the words of your industry. It is not hard to figure out what words people are typing into a Search Engine if they are searching for a Realtor in Miami, right?

Owning words on the Internet means people that do not know you type words into the Search Engine browser window related to what you do and where you do it and ultimately they end up visiting your site. You just created ownership for that word.

Knowing which words to pursue as a part of your marketing strategy is something companies like HOWTOWINSEARCH.COM will do for you. It is not always a sound strategy to pursue the same words as your competitors if they have a head start on you. Many times, there are other words that will yield a powerful ROI that your competitors have overlooked in their rush to own the same words as every other business in your category and city.

After you discover the ranking of the words that are being searched for from most popular to least popular, you next need to find out where you rank for each of those words and what the top ten matches for each of those words are on Google and Yahoo. This process will define what sites are showing up on the front pages of searches that matter.

Once you discover the sites winning the words being typed into search engine browser windows, you then need to discover how those sites are winning those meaningful searches.

You must research the sites that are winning the words you need to own and reduce their top ten placement to simple math. Once you know the math of the sites that are winning searches, you can accurately predict how long and how much it will cost to beat them. This process speeds up dramatically as soon as 10, 30, 50 or 100 companies that do the same thing join your effort. We at DLB have found only one company doing this effectivtely, the HOWTOWINSEARCH.COM network.

Remember, the Internet is nothing but math and words. There are no pictures on the Internet. Programmers have to provide code and words that Search Engine crawlers can see so that the machine world knows what information is contained in the photos and videos.

That math will come down to a variety of factors. The higher ranking you achieve, the more business you will win.

You will have opportunities to capitalize on this newfound strength. People want to do business with the best. They also do not want to have to search all over the Internet or pull the Yellow Pages out of the dog house to find whatever it is you do in wherever you are located. Your potential customers want to find you fast and find you at the top of whatever list they are looking through to find someone that does what you do in the city you do it in.

Once you achieve where you want to be on meaningful searches, you need to discover meaningful ways to capitalize on your brand. That is because the traditional definition of brand is also undergoing a dramatic shift. Being ranked number one on Google for a meaningful search that produces visitors and profits may be all there is to some brands achieving success. The next step is capitalizing on this new power position.

Marketing today is brand + technology.

What we have discussed so far is technology which is the process of owning the category and territory words that have meaningful volumes of traffic associated with them. The best part may be in capitalizing on marketing yourself as the best in whatever you are in your city or state.

Once you achieve a high ranking on Search Engines through our exclusive Connectivity Process, which generally takes about 6 months (for existing sites), you will have the opportunity to capitalize on this new position. Being tops or best or number one on Google is something that carries with it a lot of credibility. That credibility is what is known as brand. And brand is nothing more than word of mouth plus sales.

That word of mouth is something YOU have to take control of. The word of mouth about your business forms the basis for your brand. In fact, what people say about you IS YOUR BRAND. And where word of mouth is today is where sales will be tomorrow. PERIOD.
