Water Removal: Having The Right Equipment On Hand

The water removal process may have different steps to be taken depending on the severity of the situation, and each situation has different equipments for use.

One of the most important pieces of equipment that is very useful in water removal is the sump pumps. Sump pumps are sold in varying horsepower; there are some available at quarter horsepower and in one half horsepower. When buying this kind of equipment, the primary consideration should be how much water needs to be removed because this is where the size of the motor used will come into play.

For instance, for flooded basements or for a pool at home that needs cleaning, you may use a one half horsepower of a sump pump since it is capable of removing three to seven gallons of water per hour.

Another type of equipment that is very handy when having water removal process is the shop vacuum, which can be used in many effective and efficient ways. It can be used even on tiles, hardwood, and even carpeted or aggregated surfaces. This equipment is also convenient to have around in some of the areas of the house that is usually damp with water.

Another simple tool used in water removal is a squeeze. This is usually attached to a handle that is quite similar to a push broom. This is appropriate for use in the basement, on the sidewalk, by the pool side, in the kitchen and bath area, or even in the garage. This device can remove voluminous water from an affected area and only leaves a small amount to deal with afterwards. Once you have maximized the use of this tool properly, you can continue now with a mop and a disinfectant to finish the process.

For small puddles, mops are most effective in removing water, especially an industrial mop which comes with a self ringing bucket that can be used in every aspect of water removal. The common use of mop in water removal is for some areas of the house. Because of the nature of their absorbent fiber, mops quickly take in the water and when you squeeze the mop with its wringer you can see the absorbed water. Usually after one has used the mop in removing huge amounts of water, the mop should be cleaned with a disinfectant and clean water.

Some may not have known this, but a towel is also an effective tool. Yes, the common everyday towel can do wonders in assisting you in removing water from some areas of the house.

Another simple tool with which to do water removal is a roll of paper towels. This simple domestic item can dry small amount of moisture from a rug, a small amount of spill in the kitchen, or small amount of water that spilled out to the floor.

Water removal, while it may sound easy and uncomplicated, actually needs a lot of attention when being done because it can ruin our vulnerable possessions. The tools and methods discussed above are only a few items that can assist in making the home a dry, clean place to live in.
