Planning Timed Intercourse

Aug 17, 2007
Many couples are concerned when conception delays and it seems there is no reason for such delaying, unless infertility could be the cause. If it is certain that infertility is not the reason, there is another probable cause that is often ignored: timed intercourse.

Having sex is not enough to conceive, even if you get rid of anti-conceptive methods some of them delay conception for a few months after discontinuing its use.

Getting pregnant is not a matter of the frequency of sex as many couples believe. You can have sexual intercourse all day long and that will not change things if you don't understand how timed intercourse works.

With the same care and attention that you plan other events in your life, planning the moment when you and your partner must have sex is a way to improve your chances of getting pregnant.

After discussing with your partner about your mutual expectations on pregnancy, begin tracking the days when you ovulate, and soon you will be able to determine when your fertile time is, the right moment for having sexual intercourse with the higher chances of pregnancy.

The are many methods for timing intercourse, and a prenatal visit to your doctor can help you to plan the best moment for having sex. Your Doctor will also explain to you the ovulation cycle and how to determine your fertile time to take advantage of the small time frame for chances of getting pregnancy during the peek moment of the cycle.

In addition to ovulation, your partner should also know the myths and facts behind sexual abstinence and other practices leading to deteriorating his sperm, making it difficult for conception during the fertile time.

Even though it has been prevailed as empirical method, measuring your basal body temperature (BBT) has been for a while a popular method to determine when timed intercourse should occur. BBT is just an alternative method to check your ovulation, as well as the popular urine testing kits.

Intended for revealing if your are pregnant or not, these kits are useful for finding the peak of the luteinizing hormone (hormone LH), responsible for triggering ovulation.

When it comes to getting pregnant, you should make sure of having sexual intercourse the days immediately before and after ovulation occurs. Once the egg has matured in your ovary, it is released and will stay in your fallopian tubes for about 24 hours.

Your ovulation is calculated by the help of your menstrual cycle. If you have sex during that period, your partner's sperm will survive for about 48 to 72 hours in your reproductive tract. That is enough time to travel into the fallopian tube and meet with the egg, resulting in your conception.
