Learning to manipulate Chi and have it do what you want, when you want, and how you want it is not something that happens overnight. Many people learn that Chi is the secret behind most martial arts.

The amazing things that can be performed by martial arts masters are through belief they can obtain this ability easily and then they too can do the amazing things done by martial arts masters.

The reality is it does not work that way. Manipulating Chi is a process that takes a significant amount of training.

In fact, it takes just as much or even more training than it takes to master the physical aspects of martial arts.

The movement and manipulation of Chi even has its own martial arts that are designed specifically for the purpose of moving this energy around. In fact, you are probably familiar with it.

Tai Chi and Qigong are very similar and deal with the movements and manipulation of Chi it is the core of both styles. These practices teach people to move with the energy to feel and be aware of it and to use it.

Everyone looks at Tai Chi and believes it is a martial art for old people. Well, many older people practice it because it does not require the heavier physical movements.

It works on a quieter way that can be just as effective. It is designed to move, and even build Chi then release. It also teaches adaptation to the change in the energy flow around you.

To manipulate Chi, the first thing you have to do is learn how to increase its flow. The reason being is that you want to be able to build it quickly, move it quickly and have it work as effectively as possible.

You must learn to control the flow of it within the body. Once you have learned to increase and decrease the flow, you learn to draw it pulling it in from around you.

The easiest way to learn this is probably through visualization.

You visualized then energy flowing into you and cycling through your body, building it and releasing it. These are the basics necessary to being able to use Chi energy.

Meditation teaches you awareness. Tai Chi teaches how to create a flow and balance with the energy around you, to pull it in, build it and then release it.

Both of these can be learned easily at home. They do not require special classes, although guided meditations are faster for gaining awareness in most people than just meditating alone.

Once you have learned these things you can then work on the practical applications. The manipulation of Chi energy can help to make your body work more effectively it can give you the ability to do incredible things.

But there must be balance! Without that balance to the equation the individual ends up paying a hefty price for the small gain.

You are not going to gain the ability throw your opponent without touching them or cause something to explode overnight.

While these things are theoretically possible with training, the necessary mechanics make it less effective than using the physical form of martial arts.
