A high protein diet is much advocated for these days. This is due to the fact that it can work for a person who wants to gain weight and also for a person who wants to lose weight.

Proteins are the fundamental building blocks of muscle in the body. This is the reason why most people who want to add weight or increase their muscles are advised to go on a high protein diet. To put it plainly, without proteins you will not gain muscle mass. When you are weightlifting, you are causing muscle-tears in your body. Your body thus requires enough proteins to rebuild the broken down muscles.

For a person who is trying to lose weight then a protein diet can help him do this. This is because many high protein foods contain low carbohydrates and also low saturated fat. As a reminder for those people who want to lose weight and fat, the best diet for them is a meal containing low carbohydrates and low saturated fat.

High protein foods include; chicken, legumes, lean meat, fish and egg whites.

Finally it is very important to note the best time to take proteins in a day. The best time to take them are; immediately you wake up in the morning , last thing before going to bed at night and immediately after your work out session.

2. CREATINE

This is naturally produced by the body so as to supply energy to muscles and various nerve cells. Though naturally produced, it can be found in red meat several varieties of fish. Simply put, creatine determines the amount of energy you will posses in your muscles. This is the science which applies when you use creatine supplements during your workout. The more energy your muscles possess, the more weights you will be able to handle and with more reps. I t is this factor which enables you acquire more muscles.

Do they actually work? For many people, the answer is yes, it can actually work. Although in some people it will not work, they are called the non-responders. Non- responders usually have high natural creatine levels in their system; due to either consuming a lot of meat or their body produces them naturally. Or also it could be a as result of both factors combined.

Are they safe? Research studies have found that creatine supplements are safe as long as you are healthy. If you suffer from certain health problems then you need to seek medical advice before using them. There are however reported cases of mild side effects such stomach upsets. To avoid these side effects is very simple, take plenty of water daily and don't overdose yourself with creatine.
