Sonic The Hedgehog: The Supreme Video Game Icon
What would make Sonic the Hedgehog a Supreme Video Game Icon? Many gamers have said that Sonic's powers make him a supreme icon. Sonic has obviously super sonic speed, which is pretty cool. He has the ability to curl up into a ball to attack his offenders. This may sound like a so-so power to have but with the speed and accuracy that Sonic has the power is actually one of the best powers he possesses.
Another power that makes him more supreme than his "rival" Mario is that in his games, when he encounters a Golden Ring you get to use it as a lifeline. When Mario encounters trouble there is nothing to save him. In the game, if you collect 100 rings, the game will give you an extra life. In each of the game series, Sonic and Friends must collect all 7 of the Chaos Emeralds; by collecting these gems throughout the game you will defeat the bad Doctor Robotnik. Mario games don't have endings nearly as well put together as this.
In the games there is the Master Emerald. This gem will control what the other Chaos Emeralds do. It is like the ultimate emerald. The Video Icon is only as good as the game they play in. Would Sonic be as cool if he were just an icon? No, he is made the supreme video icon because of the adventures and powers he possesses.
In the Sonic Games he encounters Special Game Stages or Special Zones. Together with his friends he ascends to the next level with your help. You always look forward to something new in the game series; it is not always the same old thing. That is why kids love the game so much. The powers that Sonic possesses are super cool; he just doesn't shoot guns or jumps real high or even fly. Sonic becomes like a super hedgehog with the powers he has. The best quality of Sonic is that there is no other video game character that can do what Sonic does.
One of the best features of Sonic that people always forget is that Sonic is a Hedgehog and he has quills that are deadly. That's what makes his curl and roll so effective. All of these things make Sonic a Supreme Video Icon. Sonic has some great adventures in this Series of Games. Each one is different from the next one. They have different goals and different features that help Sonic get through each game.
For those Sonic fans that may not know the premise behind the new Sonic Unleashed game, the basic story is that the Chaos Emeralds have lost some power and while trying to restart their powers, Sonic turns into a werewolf style hedgehog at night. The goal of the game is to restart the Chaos Emeralds and get Sonic back to normal. The game will be released in December 2008. This is the season's much anticipated game.
