Some Things To Do When Cleaning Flooded Basements
If you were to have a flooded basement, what would you do first? The first thing that you will need to do is call your insurance agent and find out if you have enough coverage to help you with the clean up. Then, you will have to find out the best way to remove the water, the mud and all of the trash that might be in this water and then figure out how to clean-up the rest of your things that had been in your basement when the flood waters hit.
After this has been done and the mess has been removed, then you might have to find some professional company to help with the next step because the next step will be the worst and the messiest and the most time consuming job that will have to be done the right way the first time. If the work isn't done right, it might not be able to be used again or cleaned properly. As this step is the most important, you really need the professional touch.
To start the clean up stage, you will need the use of shovels, wagons, trash bags, rubber gloves, masks, and plenty of rags to help with the small things that you might be able to keep. If the things in your flooded basements are beyond saving, then you can either put them in your wagon to be taken out all at the same time or you can up them in your trash bags and then put all of the trash bags in your wagon so that you don't have to make so many different trips, as it is best to take all of them out at once.
You will probably have a lot of mud and water in this basement, and you will probably have the need of some different kinds of machines to help you with the removal of all this water and the mud that will be at the bottom on the floor. This mud will not only be heavy, but it will be full of all sorts of things that could cause you harm to your health as well as your body. There could be all kinds of broken glass, metal cans with sharp edges, and even some unwanted animals like poisonous snakes. If these poisonous snakes were to be in this water and you didn't know they were there, you could end up getting bitten and become very sick or die.
