Water Damage Can Show In Just 48 Hours
If you have water damage from a flood, you will be surprised to know that if you can't clean up this water in 48 hours after the water has been there, you will most likely have to deal with water damage later on down the road. In some cases of flood water, you might not even get back into your home until a week later and sometimes more depending on the height of this water and how fast it receded. Sometimes the water might be gone in a couple of days, but you still won't be able to get back into the area because the ground is still too wet and you can sink into the mud that the ground has turned into.
By this time, the damage will already be noticeable on your walls, whether they are concrete or plywood, and this damage is almost impossible to fix so you will just have to try to have it removed and replaced. If this isn't in the cards or you just don't have the money to replace it, you will have to try to have a professional come in and set up some kind of way to have it done and a payment plan into effect to have it done. If the flood water was moving as fast as some of them do, you might not even have a foundation or home to come back to.
If you lose your home to a flood, you had better have the right kind of insurance because some of these insurance companies don't cause damage from floods. Some areas aren't considered a risk of having a flood so they don't have this clause in the insurance that you might be buying, but it is a good thing to have on your insurance policy just in case. In some cases, you might even buy a home in an area that is popular for having floods, and if you are new to the area and someone tries to sell you a piece of land, you might want to check into this first. If this does happen and you don't know of this problem, you might be stuck with what some call a lemon as you won't be able to sell it easily because of its history, and you might not have the flood insurance on your new home because you didn't think that you needed it.
