Companies and enterprises involved with technology-related businesses need to be at the forefront of their markets in order to survive in this fast-paced industry. Business owners and entrepreneurs need a support organization where they could develop business relationships with leaders and movers in their industries. For the technology-based community in Maryland, they have found just the home with the Greater Baltimore Technology Council (GBTC). This network of the most talented and creative minds in Maryland's technology industry, have provided a venue for these people to get a pulse on their industry and where they could meet and obtain valuable partners and clients.

With a goal of building Maryland's technological community, the Greater Baltimore Technology Council creates programs and forums where business owners and entrepreneurs can meet, learn, collaborate and do business. These events that GBTC conducts are designed by their own affiliates and members. With over 250 events per year, community members gather in educational seminars and forums, roundtables, networking nights or just plain old get together meetings.

One of these events is the GBTC TechNite where over a thousand community members from all over Maryland can have a night out and get together with lots of opportunities for networking. Members can meet old colleagues and gain the opportunity of meeting new friends who could be possible partners or clients. Community members can meet tech executives and entrepreneurs as well as sponsors and executives from Maryland's Fortune 500 businesses. Both university and government officials would also attend these gatherings to learn more entrepreneurial ideas and technological innovations.

In these yearly TechNite gatherings, the Greater Baltimore Technology Council would highlight and recognize Spotlight Organizations that have been selected among Maryland's technology community. These companies or enterprises have been chosen for their success and growth. They are also recognized for their commitment to providing jobs for the community and for their innovative products. These companies were selected by the GBTC board and finalized by votes from the Board's Strategic Advisory Committee.

Aside from the yearly TechNite, the Greater Baltimore Technology Council conducts several other meetings and gatherings where members can meet and network. One of this is the Business Advisory Committee meeting that is held twice a month. This is GBTC's initial sounding board when it comes to program development, and a venue to gather feedback regarding the needs of the community. The organization also conducts Continuing Education Seminars open to both members and non-members from Maryland's tech community, where they could learn about the latest in technology from CEOs of innovative companies.

Executives from member companies meet monthly in an Executive Roundtable where these leaders discuss industry or business related issues. In a similar manner, CEO's from these tech companies meet quarterly in a CEO Face2Face meeting where attendees can learn the challenges these leaders faced and how they overcame them.

GBTechNet meetings are twice a month gatherings of sales and business development leaders from member companies, where they can network and build relationships. Topic driven discussion groups are also held semi-annually where industry experts share trends and directions in their industries.

Other gatherings are not purely business as members meet together and network with business leaders and other members of the community while having fun. This includes Beakers and Beers gathering, the GBTC Golf Classic and the GBTC Wine Tasting gatherings.

Being an affiliate of the Greater Baltimore Technology Council not only benefits individual members and companies, but also fuels the drive towards excellence and innovation for the whole Maryland technology community.
