Technological Advancement In The Home
Times have certainly moved on apace. For the majority of people, the chances of your life not being affected by technology are extremely slim. It is estimated that there are over ten million households in the UK with broadband connections and around twenty million with digital TV. This type of 'normal' usage of technology within the home has only taken off over the last ten to fifteen years, yet it seems we cannot live without it.
If you've ever seen someone leave the house without their mobile phone, you can see the panic in their faces. It's like they've just been given some grave news because the thought of going through the day without their mobile is disastrous.
Of course, the use of technology is not a bad thing, its progress. Communication has become faster and more reliable and this has assisted businesses no end as well as helped to keep families in touch. Technology in the home can also be a good thing.
Take, for example, digital photo frames. Photography has also come into the digital age and many people will store photos on a camera or memory stick. This is all very easy and space saving but the drawback is that they hardly ever get looked at. Gone are the days of flicking through photo albums and reminiscing.
However, this does stop the continued expense of developing photos just to find out you've chopped someone's head off or had your finger over the lens! It also stops the photos becoming damaged or lost forever. It helps them retain that 'just taken' quality.
So, how to get the best from them and not leave them stuck on a memory card in the back of the drawer? Well, this is where a digital photo frame will come in useful and it is one piece of technology that is quite attractive to look at. Photos stored on a memory card can be arranged in whatever order you like. The memory stick or card can then be loaded into the digital photo frame and this can then be set to simply display one photo or scroll through a sequence of them.
One of the added benefits to the digital photo frame is that you can have a wide choice of photos to display, changing them occasionally, without the need for vast areas of household surface taken up with standard photo frames.
Even old photos can now be copied onto discs and computers and then these can also be displayed electronically. The quality of these pictures is crystal clear and make reminiscing a great deal easier!
Computer games consoles are another move through technology that our children (and probably husbands) cannot contemplate not having in their lives. This is a main source of entertainment in many households around the country. There is complaint from some people that this encourages laziness in children. It also encourages them to be quite while you're preparing dinner!
Even robotic toys are a technological invention that is the norm these days. Going through a toy department these day s is like walking into Santa's grotto itself. It will be alive with music, electronic beeps and flashing lights. These are partly designed to grab the attention of children but they are also simply a part of technological advancement.
So, whether it be your TV, computer, digital photo frame or children's toys, technology has reached us all.
