Qualities of a Good Life Coach Training Program

People looking for life coach training programs are often finding themselves spoilt for choice. There are so many life coach training programs on offer, especially on the web that it is hard to know which one to choose, and why to choose it.

There are, however, a number of basic qualities to look for in a good life coach training program.

A good life coach training program should equip the prospective life coach with the tools to develop a wide general knowledge. As it were, a practising life coach one is bound to encounter clients with all sorts of problems - some falling outside the strict confines of psychology on which most life coach training programs are based on. Yet as a life coach, one is expected to develop a life coach program for every client and suggest practical solutions to their woes. This means that a life coach needs a wide body of general knowledge, and a good life coach training program should equip the prospective life coach with the tools to acquire it.

A good life coach training program should also be highly practical. As it were, many life coach training programs adopt some rather too theoretical approaches, yet the reality of real-life coaching is that it is a highly practical discipline. In real life coaching, the life coach has to offer a sympathetic and non-judgmental ear to the client, understand the clients goals and develop a relevant life coacyh program, in line with those goals. Thus, a good life coach training program should at the very least have some simulated life coaching sessions, where the trainee life coach is approached by a 'client', and where he or she has to develop a good life coach program towards the 'client's' needs.

A good life coach training program should also be compatible with emerging trends in life coaching. The emerging trends in life coach training include tele-coaching and Internet coaching, and every modern life coach needs knowledge on how to implement these technologies in their practice. On the most part, this emerging trends in life coaching require the life coach to be able to understand the life goals of a client and develop a life coach program to attain them without the benefit of meeting the client in person. This in turn calls for excellent communication and visualizing skills if one is to understand and emphathize with the situations that clients in tele-coaching come with.

A good life coach training program should have some financial content. The reality of life as it is lived is such that over 80% of all problems that people have a financial side to them. This also applies to life coach training, as most clients that one meets are seeking assistance with either their finances or with their relationships. And even in the case of relationships, finances still tend to feature prominently as a problem area. Thus a good life coach training program should equip the prospective life coach with a good understanding of the workings of personal finance, the potential pitfalls in personal finance and how to avoid them or at least get out of them if one is already in one.

Last but not least, a good life coach training program should be run by professionals. The people running the life coach training program should at the very least be well grounded in psychology, sociology and philosophy among other social sciences. Exposure to these fields gives the prospective life coach a wider perspective of human environment they operate in, which is an invaluable asset to a life coach.
