Thanksgiving Date Ideas For Wimps

By Joseph Carducci

Pretend that you are confused between Thanksgiving Day and Valentines Day.

Or you eagerly anticipate having a very special date with your beloved one but you can not wait until Valentines.

Worse still, you feel that Halloween is for children and Christmas is for families; so you are left with either Thanksgiving or Valentines, but the latter does not happen till next year and you feel dates are mediocre if not on a calendar holiday. What do you do?

Thanksgiving date--not the one that holds a feast every fourth Thursday of November but rather the one pertaining to your special rendezvous with Don Juan or Delilah, as the case may be, on Thanksgiving--can easily be a bummer if you do not plan for it way ahead of time.

It is good to remember that your beau or belle might decide to spend their Thanksgiving holiday, as tradition dictates, with family and non-romantic friends. After all, your sweetheart thinks that the two of you will have the rest of November and the whole of December to have a date.

But your urge to have a romantic day, or night, with your paramour on Thanksgiving is like an itch that will not stop. If so, you need help to jack up the number of aces up your sleeves. You need fantastic ideas to convince your darling that spending Thanksgiving with you is a more wonderful idea than having time with family and friends. Here are a few suggestions.

During Thanksgiving Day, many organizations hold feeding programs for people who have less in life. Invite your lover to one such feeding service or session. This way, the two of you can really spend time together and live out one of the basic traditions of Thanksgiving Day. Above all, your sweetheart will be intensely touched by your gesture.

If this feeding engagement is too messy for you, try bringing your partner to wards uniquely created for children in hospitals. Try making traditional Thanksgiving crafts with the kids and have fun with them. Who knows? The bliss you two brought the kids could one day cure them of their afflictions.

If your sweetheart lives far from family and friends, and therefore there is not much problem for you to invite him or her on a date, you can easily go to a fancy restaurant and share stories, get to know each other more. Cap the night with a cup of coffee or a walk in the park. People-watching is always a fun way to keep stories flowing.

If you two are really serious about each other, go on a cruise and forget about the turkeys and pilgrim hats. A Thanksgiving cruise gives you the opportunity to really focus about your relationship. It might cost you some money, but the time you spend undisturbed by the hustle and bustle of life is worth it. Check out the Internet or directories for Thanksgiving cruise offerings.

However, if your budget is a little strained and you live in a farming county or area, go jumping on hay stacks or rake the falling leaves and scrawl them on the ground into sweet nothings.

Another option is to go on a picnic by the lake. This may sound too rustic, but in an age where Nature is slowly forgotten, the privilege of communing with the countryside and the memories it will leave is a priceless gift for your beloved on Thanksgiving.

There was a period when Thanksgiving was also referred to as the Marrying Time because families are already gathered for the occasion and it was, indeed, a popular time to get married. And you thought forcing yourself to get a date on Thanksgiving was absurd! So do not be shy.
