Restoring Your Wood Floors After Water Damage
Did you know that your wood floors can get water damage done to it by using too much water or by too much floor cleaner? Well it can, and it happens most commonly with the wood floors we have today. It wears down our floors or it strips them. If you wash it with too much water, the water can soak into the wood and weaken it. By using too much water, it can get in the cracks of the walls, like the lining or in the wood work of the walls. When it gets into these places, it is really hard to get out and sometimes you won't get all the water out and that's when the damage sets in.
Do you know how companies say that the wood floors that we have today are waterproof? That is not really true because they are not 100% waterproof, and water damage can happen to them. Also, if you use too much water, it can seep right into the planks and damage it from the side pieces of the wood. If it gets in the planks, the excess water can make it peel, buckle, or even warp, and your wood floors will look messed up, and it will be unleveled. It will have no shine to it, it might be rough instead of smooth, it will look old and worn out, and you can hear it when you walk on it. When you set something on your floors, it could fall over due to it being unleveled or it will be wobbly.
It would be a good idea to use a dry mop or a rag on your wood floors. Don't use so much floor cleaner because it can ruin your floors like damaging them and taking off the top layer. When you use wood floor cleaner, you need to use a special floor cleaner that is designed to work and take care of the wood. If you have scratches in your floors, water can get into those scratches and do lots of damage just by seeping in it. Do you know where the scratches come from? It comes from pets, dirt, and abrasives. The dirt and the abrasives come from outside. You can bring it in or it can just find it's way in; either way you can get it. Now the scratches that come from pets are from their nails when they are too long. It can happen if they are walking or running. Your floors will still get scratches on them and when too much water gets in them, in time your floors will damage.
