Member Gate, AMember, Or Autoresponders - Which Is The Best Option For A Membership Site?
What is the fastest way to start a membership site? What software do you use? Have you heard of Member Gate and is it worth the $4,000 cost? Supposedly, Google really likes the Member Gate sites and people that I know that have them say that. Is it worth paying the money for Member Gate or use AMember instead?
Answer: Here's Joe Lavery's take on it:
From everything I have heard, Member Gate is great software, but I don't recommend it. If you are earning $100,000 per month then it might be a good option to invest in. However, I don't think it is necessary.
If somebody came to me because they wanted to start a membership site and create a monthly scheme then I would tell them to use software called AMember. Its $127 and it's all you really need to get started.
It also depends on what you what to do and what you need to get accomplished. If you are going to be doing a huge site with tons of content then SEO might be a good strategy. I believe, though, that you should build your venture on joint ventures and paid traffic instead of SEO. You shouldn't focus your time, energy, and money on SEO until you have a sales process that makes money.
If you have a sales process that makes money then why would you waste your time on SEO traffic? SEO traffic is like a needle in the haystack of traffic in the Internet business world.
Instead, focus on banner ads by going through advertising networks. These advertising networks let you rake out advertising through thousands of websites at once. This saves you the task of trying to advertise by contacting specific websites one by one. These advertising networks are all managed by one company. They let you talk to someone on the phone who manages all the things you want to do. It is a great and efficient option.
Back to the question:
AMember will get everything done that you need to do. It integrates with PayPal, Click Bank, etc. It is a completely flexible program. For example, if your members forget their password, it will send it to them. You have customized templates as well.
However, the fastest way to get monthly income coming in with the least amount of work is to just use an Autoresponder. An Autoresponder will become your monthly content. Have a hidden location on your server that houses hidden content pages. You get them on your Autoresponder that has email links to these hidden pages. Send a link to a new hidden page every week.
I would recommend that you send a new message every week. Also include links to previous content at the bottom of each hidden page.
Using an Autoresponder enables you to not have to do a username and password which could be a potential software support nightmare.
