Self-Discovery: Are You Finding It Difficult To Find The U in You?
You ever met someone without a life plan? A plan based on the direction they would like to take for their life. There are people who identify themselves as not having any idea in which direction their life should go and that in order to find that direction they need a personal roadmap to guide them. Or how about the person that makes the statement, "You can't just decide what you want to do and then just do it." They feel it's more to it than that. I say you can. In reality, you do just do it. How do you discover the u in you?
First, purchase yourself a pair of those noise canceling headphones to stifle the negative thoughts from your inner voice inside your head. For example, like the words can't, I don't know if I can do that or I'm scared. Learn to tune out the negative broadcasts in your head. They do you no good, but only keep you trapped in the safe life you've created for yourself or the life created for you by someone else. Try these seven suggestions to jump start your life and create that roadmap to success!
1. Replace negative inner voice influences with positive affirmations or even some awesome attributes that you admire about yourself.
2. Set your sights high and tune into the radio station WIIFM (What's In It For Me). Because you and only you can determine your destination and how to go about achieving the goals you've set for yourself - then yes, it is all about you.
3. Listen with a trained ear for compliments, words of appreciation and encouragement. If they don't come, put the negative aside and solicit those positive comments and compliments. They are always worth a smile or that feel good feeling as you reminisce about your day while stuck in traffic or doing some other mundane task.
4. Think of the innocence and smile of a child. They are so pure in heart without a hint of the "isms." We as adults can do that, but it takes ridding ourselves of the useless waste we've collected along the way, carrying it within as we approach maturity. We were there before and can return but this time wiser and with more of life's knowledge.
5. Being depressed gets you down? Don't shy away into a corner and alienate yourself from others. Fight off depression or the blues and call a friend you haven't spoken to in awhile and go do something! Get up and move! Go where you can find people, where you can connect with other people. It could be just saying a simple excuse me or ask a question about a purchase.
6. Make the effort to speak to people and initiate conversation. People or even the kindness of strangers has a way of lifting us out of a funk. In other words, they sometimes are able to make our day.
7. When you encounter a negative situation, always consider what lesson you've learned by the experience. On the surface, the incident may be horrible, but once you dissect it, the positives and the learning experiences you take away from it all can be a positive benefit in your favor. It just depends on your perspective. Don't mope around and keep turning the issue over in your head. You can think about it once or twice and then just let it go! Turn your back on junk and all those things considered as bunk.
Now that I've shared these seven ways to find the U in you, take out those noise canceling headphones, get them ready to wear and begin to create your positive plan for your life's journey. You can begin planning the path you'll take right now.
