What is Acai Berry and How Can it Help
The demand for acai berry, which is pronounced as ah-sigh-ee, has been increasing day by day. The best varieties of the berry are found in Amazon Rain forest on special palm trees. These berries look a lot like a bunch of tiny purple marbles, and they have very less fruit-pulp. In fact 90% of the acai berry is seed and only 10% is fruit. Acai pulp is separated from the seed by shaking the fruits with water in a machine which results in the production of thick acai fruit puree. However, this factor cannot undermine the miraculous effects acai berry has on human body.
Acai berry has wonderful nutritional affects on our body and has a very evident tropical fruit flavour which makes it easy for anyone to guess its origin and descent. The berry has high levels of anthocyanins, Omega fatty acids (essential and healthy fats), amino acids, fiber and many other important minerals and vitamins. It is proved that when consumed in combination with natural guarana seeds, acai gives high levels of energy as well as increases intellectual properties of a person by giving more mental quality. Research has also proved that this combination has similar effects as caffeine on the mind.
Acai has been popular in the Amazon River region and Brazil for centuries for its wellness and healing properties. However, its popularity has been increasing among Americans recently. The berry has wonderful anti-oxidant and anti bacterial properties. Anthocyanins present in acai berry are actually antioxidants in a potent form. In fact, if you compare anthocyanins with vitamin C, then anthocyanins are almost 8 times more potent. And it has 3.5 times of anti-oxidants of red wine which is very rich in them.
This berry fruit is also popularly known as the Fountain of youth as it has been proved to be a very effective anti aging product. It has also been proved to be effective against serious diseases like neurological disorders, cardio vascular diseases and even against cancer. And all this is because of its high antioxidant content. It gives some famous fruits like mango and pomegranate, a run for their money, when it comes to this factor. The anti oxidant level in acai is 50 times that of mango, 10 times that of red grapes, and two times that of pomegranate.
Most of health food stores today deal with acai pulp and extracts which can add flavor and health to your smoothies and shakes. It is also sold in the form of capsules and powders. Whatever may be the form in which acai is consumed, there is no doubt that the intake of acai will result in a better health and younger looking you in the long run.
