A Masters of Business Administration degree (or an MBA for short) can take you a long way towards your professional goals. Having earned one of these degrees makes you a highly employable person who is perceived by potential employers to have a strong set of management and interpersonal skills. MBA programs train students in these skills and teach them not only the issues involved in particular issues, but also skills which are applicable to almost career.

It can be difficult to be admitted to one of the more prestigious business schools however. You'll need to be dedicated to this goal and of course also have exceptional grades. There will be a written test as well as both group and individual interviews. A lot of people have no idea what to expect of the interview; you'll need to be prepared and ready to explain your achievements to you interviewer.

This information which will give you some good general guidelines to making it through the interview process. While there is no one right answer to many of the questions you will be asked, reading these tips will help you to come up with some good answers.

Your objective in the interview process is to impress the professors who will interview you that you are capable enough to be admitted to the program. Remember to dress professionally for interviewers; this is after all a business administration program.

Be ready to speak about both your strengths and your weaknesses in the interview. Draw on your past to give your interviewer anecdotes which will showcase your skills, especially your leadership abilities. When discussing your weak areas, have answers ready for how you plan to overcome these problem areas. Look into the school and its MBA program so that you can be informed and ready to ask some questions of your own.

Interviewers will ask you factual questions as well as ones intended to gauge your personality. These are some of the questions asked in almost every MBA interview:

Why this particular institution?

This is an important question and you need to know as much as possible about the college in order to be able to give a good answer to this question. Tell the interviewer how this college is perfectly suited to helping you meet your career objectives.

What do you plan to do with your MBA degree?

Think big but be realistic in answering this question - tell your interviewer how you plan to achieve your goals.

Tell us about yourself

You need to have a good answer ready for this one. Tell your interviewer everything which you think is important, but be concise in your answer.

You will probably be asked near the end of the interview if you have any questions for the interviewer. This is where your research in the school will come in handy; prepare some intelligent questions to ask and be ready to discuss them at length if necessary.

Being prepared for these common questions will allow you to be more relaxed during an interview; this will mean a better performance during the MBA interview.
