Unique and Inexpensive Wedding Ideas

By Allen Walters
Dec 8, 2008
There are so many ideas to make your wedding unique and distinctive, but many of them cost too much money to actually use. But there are a few ideas which can be utilized for very little money and they have a wide appeal to nearly everyone.

A few of these ideas can be incorporated into a wedding favor which is really the only thing that your guests bring home with them from your special day. And although, many times, this little item is overlooked or not much thought is given to it, it is actually one of the most important elements to your wedding.

That being said, there are several ideas that can be used that your guests will rave about. One of the most popular is to purchase card holders which are very inexpensive and can be purchased online to compliment your wedding decor and colors. Then buy a $1.00 lottery ticket and place it in the holder at each guest's place setting. The fun will begin immediately!

Another very unique wedding favor idea is to purchase from an online wedding site, a bud vase. There are very simple ones as well as extravagant vases as well as some that are etched and personalized. Place a vase at each place setting. At the entry way of your reception, have a fresh flower of your choice (with the water tube attached) on a table with the guest's name and table number attached to it with ribbon. When they get to their table, they place their flower in the vase. Not only is it a unique gift, but it adds to the beauty of your reception tables.

One very lovely idea was used instead of the traditional tossing of the bouquet and garter. At the time of that part of the reception, the D.J. or leader of the band asks everyone to take their seats. They then ask all married couples to come to the center of the floor and he starts the elimination. He asks which couples have been married less than a year and then asks them to leave the floor. He then goes to five years, ten years 15 years, etc. When he finally gets to the last couple who have possibly been married even more than 50 years, on the microphone, he asks each of them to tell the newly married bride and groom what they feel is the reason for their successful marriage. It is very different and very touching and all the guests always love it.

There are many more ideas if you just think creatively and out of the box. But most of all just enjoy your wedding planning, ever though it's hard, because it's over so quickly and before you know it, you're celebrating your first anniversary.
