Yeast Infections And Their Symptoms

There are many yeast infection symptoms and can vary from person to person. A yeast infections symptoms are caused by the Candida Albicans yeast that has mutated into a fungus. Candida lives naturally in all of us, but for some people they can have an overgrowth of yeast in places of their body like the skin, vagina and mouth.

A yeast overgrowth can happen for several reasons but one of the major reasons is antibiotics use. Antibiotics upset the body's natural bacterial balance, and destroy the body's natural ability to fight off infections. This means the Candia Albicans yeast easily mutates into a fungus.

Children as well as adults can be infected with yeast overgrowth. A child will usually suffer when it's friendly bacteria levels are too low to fight off infection causing yeasts.

Another form of yeast overgrowth is thrush which is an infection of the mouth. White spots and patches are usually a sign of oral thrush, and it can be quite painful. Poor oral hygiene and poorly fitted dentures are the biggest causes of oral thrush.

The most common area of the body that a yeast infection will appear is the vagina. A hormonal balance is a cause of yeast infections in women as well as antibiotics use. Hormonal imbalances can be caused by periods, birth control drugs, menopause and pregnancy.

The major symptom of a yeast infection is chronic with itching which last for an extended period of time, soreness, sensitivity and discomfort. This can be accompanied by a white, cottage cheese like discharge coming from the vagina. Men who have an infection usually show up on the penis area with itchy, soreness, white patches and a white colored discharge.

It is important to remember that there are many different types of infections that share similar symptoms to yeast infection. It's important to get a correct diagnosis as soon as you start suffering from any type of soreness around the genital area.A doctor's diagnosis could help you treat another infection that would have gotten worse if it wasn't spotted in time.
