Seven Things Internet Marketing Newbies Need to Succeed
A lot of newcomers to Internet marketing (known as "newbies") believe that it's easy to make money. Well, I'm sorry to burst your bubble, but it definitely is NOT easy! The good news is...it can be done! Many people make a good living working on the Internet. You'll see lots of ads, and websites from the big-time gurus telling you how easy it is to earn thousands of dollars. Don't believe those scams. Sure, they're making money. But, they're making money off the newbies who read a great sales letter and believe everything it says. It's like the old saying, "If it looks to good to be true, it probably is."
There are some things you need to consider.
1. Believe in yourself. The first thing is that you have to believe that you can do it! Sometimes, when we run into one road block after another, we just give up. That's no way to succeed. To become profitable working on the Internet, you have to have perseverence. Don't quit at the first hurdle. Work your way through it. Ask how to do what you need to do on Google.com. You'll come up with all kinds of answers...most of them exactly what you need.
2. Start small. If your first project is too complicated, you'll be more likely not to follow through. Once you get the first project, your first website business, making money for you, then start your next project. Working on the Internet is not just about working on one website...it's adding more to your online portfolio. Make sure the current project is profitable before starting on the next. Too many newbies have dozens of websites without knowing what to do to make them profitable.
3. You need to have a plan. Decide on your website topic. What are your interests or your hobbies? What are you good at? Everyone is good at something. If you build a website, and a business around what you enjoy, it will be easier for you to work through the down-times. And, since you have the knowledge, writing website content and articles will be much easier. Write down everything you think needs to be done to reach your objective. Put each item into a logical order and create a task list for the project.
4. You have to have the ability to focus. When you start a task, follow through until it's completely finished. Then, go on to the next task, then the next. Keep your focus until you've finished every single task.
5. Keep Learning! Learn about all of the different aspects of Internet marketing. I know there are many, and a LOT to learn, but don't ever stop learning as much as you can. That doesn't mean you have to purchase every guru's ebook, or "system" out there. You can find all kinds of information - the same information you would buy from the so-called experts - free on the web. Just use my good buddy, Google Search.
6. Develop your own system. Use the plan and tasks that you started out with and use the education that you get from your web searches. If you do purchase a "ready-made" system, follow it exactly. Don't jump from one, to the next, to the next. Give the system a chance before jumping onto a "better" one.
7. Take Action! This is one of the most important things you can do. You can learn AND do! Don't get stuck in the education phase and forget to take the actions needed to get to your goal...being profitable.
No project worth doing comes without effort. You'll need to work, and work hard. You'll need to persist with your marketing and you'll need to keep your focus. If you believe you can succeed, you can succeed!
