Not only is Los Angeles easily the film capital of the world, did you know that many of your favorite films and television shows were actually filmed there as well?

In fact, there are many movies set in other states and countries that were filmed at a Los Angeles filming location, much closer than you think! So next time you're in the area, maybe you'll want to check out some of the famous filming locations from your favorite movies over the past years.

Greystone Mansion, in Beverly Hills has been used most recently for blockbuster movie National Treasure: Book of Secrets. This mansion was used for shoots involving the main character's house, which he was forced to break into after locked out by his girlfriend. Greystone Mansion has also been used for shoots for Indecent Proposal, The Bodyguard, and television's Gilmore Girls.

If you were paying attention while watching Transformers, you may have noticed some noticed some familiar scenery in there as well. The home of the main character can be found just southwest of downtown Los Angeles, and his high school in the movie, though meant to be in South Gate, is actually Marshall Fundamental School in Pasadena. Even the car lot the main character visits is the Porsche Dealership of Downtown Los Angeles, a Los Angeles film location many people might want to visit!

Even one of the biggest surprise blockbusters of the last few years, Knocked Up, has its roots in Los Angeles. The Brentwood home shown at the beginning of the movie is actually found in Brentwood, true to life. In the scene where the main character visits an amusement park, you may have noticed some familiarities as well.

This is because it was filmed at Knott's Berry Farm, one of the oldest theme parks in North America. They even are shown riding on two of the park's most famed roller coasters, the Supreme Scream and the Xcelerator.

Spiderman, which is set in New York, also used Los Angeles for most of their shots. Set designers designed a huge replica of New York's Times Square for the shoot. As Spidey scales the buildings, though they look right at home in the city, they were actually constructed and set in Los Angeles. The actual location can be found at the old NASA defense plant, now an empty parcel of land.

Keep an eye out for more Los Angeles filming locations in your favorite movies! You might spot something familiar!
