How To Make Homemade Mold Removal Solutions
Mold removal does not need to be expensive. Restoring and maintaining the health and safety of your home does not need to be expensive. In fact, you don't even need to go out of your home to find solutions against molds. One of the homemade mold removal solutions you can try at home is borax-vinegar solution. Mix 1/2 cup borax, 1/2 cup vinegar, and 1 cup water. Pour solution into a spray bottle. Shake the bottle, then spray on mold growth. Let solution stay for a few minutes then wipe off with a clean sponge. Change surface of sponge or change sponge as soon as gets moldy to avoid spreading mold to uncontaminated areas.
Next to sunlight and sufficient fresh air, vinegar is the cheapest mold removal solution around. In fact, vinegar is a mainstay when it comes to traditional home cleaning. Spray undiluted 5% white distilled vinegar for mold removal purpose. Spray vinegar on mold growth. Leave solution for three days. After three days, remove mold with detergent soap and water.
For non-porous materials, use 1 parts hydrogen peroxide combined with 3 parts water. Again, pour solution a spray bottle. Spray over mold surface then wipe off with clean towel. Hydrogen peroxide is a little less than a dollar.
Another inexpensive mold removal alternative is to borax paste made by combining borax and water. Spread the paste on the mold surface then scrub off molds. Rinse surface with clean water. Borax can be found on the same isle as laundry cleaners and 16 ounces is just around 80 cents.
Another way to use borax is to combine I cup of it with 1 quart water. Cover the entire infested area, and let dry but do not rinse just yet. After several days, vacuum surface after a few days.
Australian tea tree essential oil is bit expensive than other homemade products. However, when mixed with water and sprayed on mold surface, the bang is worth the buck.
Though bleach solution is popular among households, bleach produces harsh chemical odor that, when inhaled, can cause nausea. Repeated study has also shown that bleach can only remove mold temporarily. Thus, after a while, molds return again.
There are other alternative, eco-friendly, and inexpensive homemade mold removal solutions that you can try at home. Still, the most inexpensive way of removing molds would still be to prevent them from growing in their first place. See to that there's sufficient air and light in every place in your home always, and that there's proper moisture and humidity level all the time.
