Karaoke - Unleash The Singer In You
Most people like to sing. We find ourselves singing in the car, while in the shower and sometimes just singing under our breath. Singing can make you happy. But, the thought of singing publically, knowing that everyone is listening and watching you, is another story. Singing seems to take your troubles away and relaxes you. That's why so many people enjoy it. So, let's talk some karaoke and unleash the singer in you.
The history of karaoke is pretty interesting. Karaoke was invented by a Japanese musician, Daisuke Inoue, in 1971. Inoue never bothered to patent his karaoke boxes invention. Then, along came Roberto del Rosario, a Filipino inventor who called his sing-along system "Minus-One." Following a court battle with a Japanese company which claimed to have invented the system, del Rosario's patents were issued in 1983 and 1986, more than a decade after Inoue's original unpatented invention of the device in 1971. He holds the patent for the device now commonly known as the "karaoke machine".
The word karaoke is created by putting two Japanese words together. The first part "Kara" comes from the Japanese word Karappo which means empty. The second part "Oke", shortened from Okesutura, means "orchestra". So Karaoke means empty orchestra. Karaoke became popular in the United States in the 1970s and then fizzled out only to return in the 1990s.
Karaoke has come a long way in the last few decades. During the last 10 years people started buying karaoke machines for use in their homes. Great for parties where one or more persons sing songs that came with the karaoke machine. You can also buy CDs if you want to add new songs. But, as of 2009, karaoke choices have changed and are endless.
If you don't want the burden of having a karaoke machine in the house, try using a singing microphone. This product is great because the whole thing is portable. You can bring your microphone anywhere. Just plug it into any TV. It's always ready when you are. Over 2,000 songs are built into the microphone which comes with a song book. This type of karaoke uses chips for additional songs.
You can also go on the internet and find free karaoke software. You can sing your favorite songs and record them. This is a great way to find out if you want your own karaoke machine or karaoke microphone before buying one.
Japanese businessmen generally use Karaoke as a way to relax after work to ease their stress. They, like many Americans, go to a bar with friends, have a drink or two and enjoy themselves by singing to become relaxed.
Karaoke is a hot topic today. There are children's themes, party themes and all hits themes to choose from. Bottom line, karaoke is for everyone. Give karaoke a try and unleash the singer in you.
