Document Drying Services: Can They Really Help You
Replacing important documents like legal papers can be very difficult and expensive and it is not always possible either. Since, paper can be easily damaged and ink is water-soluble, documents can be restored only if document drying is carried out immediately. It usually takes around 3-8 days to dry a document; time taken to dry a document depends on the level of moisture absorbed by the document as well as contamination by mold. Cleaning documents is a very delicate job and it must be carried out with utmost care.
When a document is damaged because of water spillage there is little you can do to recover it, it must be handled by professionals. However, you can minimize the damage by placing the document in a plastic cover and freezing it immediately. Water in its liquid stage can damage the print on paper but not when its frozen that way you can limit the damage till you hand it over for professional document drying. The best way to freeze documents to prevent further damage is through blast freezing but that facility is not easily available.
Document drying must take place without exposing the document to the liquid stage as exposing it to the liquid stage can cause further damage to the process. Document must be dried through the method of sublimation, converting ice straight to vapor. It is almost impossible to carry out such a method of document drying in the house but it can be done by a professional document drying company.
A document drying company can dry documents with the help of a freeze dry chamber with adequate vacuum. Freeze drying requires sublimation in low pressure, vacuum is required to create the low pressure, along with low pressure this process also requires temperature below freezing point. If you live in a place where normal temperature is below freezing point, natural freeze-drying methods can also be used. Natural freeze-drying method is often referred to as exterior freeze-drying as well. Natural freeze-drying can also be used but it would be a very slow process.
Document drying can also be done through the process of deep freeze drying, though it is not a very widely used method, it is becoming increasingly popular. This particular method of document drying requires a freezer and it can dry a solid through dehydration. It is a fairly simple method but it had not gained popularity because of the long time required for dehydration.
Document drying must always be carried out by experts in the field, who possess the required equipment along with the knowledge to use it. Nowadays, important information are stored not just on paper but on discs as well as microfilms. Companies that offer document-drying services can help you restore microfilms, discs, and X-ray films as well. Before hiring a company, you must make an enquiry into their reputation. It is very important to be sure of their reputation since they will be dealing with very important papers of yours.
