Laminate flooring is a material that is made to resemble real wood flooring. This type of flooring has many advantages that other woods simply can not provide you with.

When you take a close look at laminate flooring, then you can not really tell that it is not a true hard wood either, which is one of the advantages in using laminate flooring. Let us now compare the two different types of laminate flooring to find out which is the right choice for you and your home.

True hard wood flooring has many grain marks that are original and unique, however, laminate flooring has many of these same markings and looks just like the real thing. Unfortunately, with hard wood flooring you have to continue with a maintenance schedule. In fact, you will need to keep it clean, keep things that can scratch it off of it, and you will need to protect it with coatings when it is needed. Let us face it, hard wood flooring can be expensive to maintain in the long run.

Laminate flooring is so much easier to take care of, because all you will simply need to do is use a wet mop to clean it up. Since you will not need to use harsh chemicals on it, then you do not have to take care not to scratch it as much, which is why it is so much more resistant to damage.

Hard wood flooring that is laid correctly will last a life time, but the laminate flooring will probably last just as long if not longer. Laminate flooring is also much less expensive than hard wood flooring that can cost you ten times as much as laminates. Both laminate flooring and hard wood flooring can be stained in the colors that you want them to be. They can also both be protected with special layers of protective coatings that will keep them looking beautiful and lasting a long time.

Laminate flooring is able to be used regularly where as with a true hard wood floor, you will need to take special precautions to make sure that they are not damaged. Another major problem with true hard wood flooring is that water can even damage many different type of hard woods. When you are considering the purchase of laminates, then you need to make sure to look at the value that it offers to a home. Many love the look of hard wood and the no nonsense trouble that laminates afford.

Laminate flooring is a superb choice, because, quite simply, no other type of floor covering comes close to providing you with such a wide variety of options. What ever look you want for your home, be it rustic stone, soothing ceramic, or classic wood like beech, oak, maple, cherry, or walnut, it can likely be had with laminate flooring, and all at lower cost than the real thing.

There is nothing unreal about laminate, that is because of its quality, style, and durability come standard. Although introduced to the market a mere decade ago, laminate flooring has rapidly become one of the hottest selling floor products in the United States today. Its popularity can be much attributed to its ease of installation, affordable price, ability to with stand tough utilization, and much more.

It is no wonder that billions of square feet of it have been sold over the years to home owners all over the country, and even more world wide. With such an enormous variety of choices, selecting the right laminate floor for a particular application can be a mind boggling affair. Flooring manufacturers have been quick to catch on to the laminate trend and many now produce laminated floor planks and tiles in a bewildering array of styles, colors, textures and in a variety of different install formats, such as glue down, click lock, and floating amongst others.
