What You Should Have In A Good Intruder Alarm System
Are you concerned that your simple door sensing components are just not enough to make you feel secure? If you are considering buying a newer system than you have now, you are probably thinking what kind of alarm system will best safe-guard your family?
Most sellers of burglar alarms give you more options with their offered packages, so you can be assured of a cost-efficient deal. Most common intruder alarm systems include the following devices -
- Control panels - The main processing body of the system is the control panel and this is just like the human body in some ways, it has a brain. The alternating current power, keypad, siren and other alarm system factors are incorporated and situated here.
- Keypads show the status of your alarm system and are connected to the primary control. Other characteristics are available depending on the type of keypad and there are four major kinds of keypads which are - 1 - LCD Alpha English Hardwired, 2- LED keypads, 3- Fixed display wired keypads and 3- wireless keypads.
- Motion Detectors - motion detectors are usually employed if nobody is home but they are somewhat useless if you're at home as people are walking around all the time. Movement sensors work best when installed at a location that covers the largest area of floor space, and generally covering the back of the house. You may also decide to mount another sensor in the hall of the second floor and for extra security, you can set-up another unit in your bedroom.
- Glass Break Detectors - Glass break sensors are generally set-up throughout the first floor and the basement and serve as your main protection for your window and door switches. Glass breaking detectors rely on the auditory sensations tuned for sensitivity to breaking glass.
- Open-air and Indoor Siren - You have a wide selection as to where to place your sirens at home although most people prefer fixing them in the attic vents, wall vents, under the eaves of the roofs, or a tall building side wall. You want them loud and noticeable, the more shocking the better. This has proven to be a good deterent in scaring away criminals who are attempting to break into your home.
You may also decide to install them above the closet or tall article of furniture, in the basement, and sleeping areas but remember when locating a siren to make sure that it will not be easily accessible to a criminal. Nevertheless, if it can readily be accessed, be sure that the unit has a built-in siren tamper device which will automatically activate in case someone tries to move the unit from the position where it is situated.
There is extensive variety in the types and variety of smoke detectors available. You could get a stand alone smoke sensor or one that is part of a burglar alarm package. These come both hardwired, radio controlled, or a mixture of the two!
