Why Any Football Fan Worth His Salt Will Cherish Football Clothing

When we are passionate about something, it's natural to want to express how we feel. This couldn't be truer for football clothing. Apart from serving a practical need of keeping us warm, protected and dressed, football clothing serves a much deeper purpose. If you want to buy a new top but hate football, you won't go in to the nearest sports shop and pay a high premium for a branded shirt. Indeed, people who buy football clothing have a passion for the game and a need to promote their passion. It's not about the fit or the style or the warmth it creates. The choice predominantly comes down to what the clothing represents. With millions of football fans around the world, it's hardly surprising therefore that football clothing is a huge business.

Slipping on a football shirt or wrapping a team scarf around your neck isn't about keeping the bitter cold away from your skin. These items of football clothing distinguish the proud wearer from the opposing team as well as showing their support for their own team. Most of us recognise a football shirt either by the team name on the front, the players surname on the back and the colours and logos emblazoned across each item.

While many competitive teams share similar shades, such as Liverpool and Manchester United both displaying home colours of red and white, we can confirm the exact team by the names, logos and numbers displayed.

The fact that football clothing is worn to so proudly, means that while of course it is worn throughout football games, it is also frequently on display away from matches too. The practicality of football clothing such as scarves, hats and jackets means that they can be worn for everyday purposes as well as while watching sport. Walking down the street displaying your team colours not only keeps you protected from natures elements, but also allows other fans to recognise a common interest, displaying a united front with other supporters.

Some fans are even dedicated enough to personalise their football clothing with their favourite players names or team numbers, or even with their own surnames or nicknames. Personalised shirts make great gifts and are largely popular around the world.

Like most forms of merchandise, there are sadly many people who try to sell un-original items of football clothing therefore make sure you buy yours from a respectable source, especially if you are buying for a gift. You can tell an imitation by a number of factors, including the quality of the fabric, the quality of colours printed, bad stitching, inaccurate logos and the quality of the printing.

Buying genuine doesn't have to mean braving the crowds on the chilly high street; there are many official websites that sell genuine quality shirts, scarf's, hats, gloves and other merchandise. Official football clothing may be more expensive than imitations however at least you know you have the real McCoy and that quality means it will stand the test of time.

So long as football is played, football clothing will forever remain a popular commodity and is an excellent method of communication, not to mention a useful addition to your wardrobe.
