Body colon cleanse is the process of detoxifying the body of toxins and accumulated wastes. But before we move further let us understand what function Colon plays in our body.

Wikipedia defines it as

"The colon is the last portion of the digestive system that extracts water and salt from solid wastes before they are eliminated from the body. It is mainly responsible for storing waste, reclaiming water and absorbing vitamins, such as vitamin K, and minerals such as
sodium, magnesium, and chloride"

As we see colon is like the waste disposal system for the body and on which the well being of the entire body is based. But as with most organs in the body, with age the colon fails to get rid of entire toxins and waste from the body. These then form sludge and gets stuck to the inner walls of the intestine. This not only causes various diseases such joint pains, gas, colon cancer, obesity, etc. but also adds few inches to the belly.

1) Eat Foods high in fiber content
2) Drink At least 8 liters of water
3) Go for whole bran foods like the whole wheat, whole millet, etc
4) Heat destroys fiber so try to consume as much raw foods as possible.
5) The skin and pulp of fruits such as apple, pears etc are rich in fiber content and should be consumed along with the fruit.
6) Avoid high calorie and fried foods. These are most difficult to get rid of & should be avoided at all cost. Do whatever you can but don't eat high calorie food.
7) With healthy diet, regular exercise and workout makes lot of difference. The blood circulation and metabolism is boosted and has a positive overall effect.

Foods that help this cleansing process are those that are rich in magnesium and calcium. A combination of these two ingredients helps regularize bowel movements thus preventing constipation and accumulation of toxins. Calcium flexes the internal muscles and magnesium relaxes them.
