What is The Fallout 3 Centaur?
The Centaur in the PS3 game Fallout 3 is a heavily mutated beast. Whenever the average gamer meets the Centaur for the first time in the game, the immediate instinct is to shoot the animal without realizing what it is. It is a scary looking beast with features of many different animals. It has some type of virus known as the Forced Evolutionary Virus created by mixing animals into a vat for an experiment. That experiment created the Centaur.
The Centaur is normally based in the West Coast and basically live in packs. A large majority of the Masters army is made up of the Centaur. They are also found in the nightkin who meander in Northern California.
The Fallout 3 Centaur has different characteristics within the game depending on which areas they are located. The Centaurs in the Capital Wasteland have a different appearance than the Centaurs from the Core Region. The Capital Wasteland Centaur has a more human like head and 3 tentacles. The Core Region Centaurs has a dog like head and has feelers on his back. The Capital Wasteland Centaur attacks with high arching projectiles carrying high doses of radiation. As the radiation projectiles are released radiation is released the causes the poisonous radiation vapors to prolong in the air.
The Centaurs found in the DC area are another type of Centaur with a different makeup. They have no canine or feline distinctions. They basically look like humans with gross deformities. Many pro Fallout gamers think these particular Centaurs existed from older Fallout games. It is believed they are really constructed from mutilated human parts that were found in Gore bags from the Super Mutant camps.
One good way to defeat the slow moving scary looking Centaur is to shoot it a medium range. A good player can easily at that distance move out of the way of offensive attacks. They throw slime that is heavily laced with radiation which you can easily avoid. The assault rifle or 10mm submachine gun will definitely be enough to destroy the Centaur at medium range. The most deadly place to aim at the Centaur is its head. This is the best way to immediately destroy it while not wasting much ammo at the same time.
As you are playing Fallout 3 and you run into a Fallout 3 Centaur, you will now know what to do to defeat the beast. It is definitely the ugliest game beast you have ever seen but it is not a real threat.
