How To Fill A Suits Pockets

By Victor Santerino
Jan 25, 2009
Men who buy suits quickly discover that they have a wide array of places they can seemingly store their gear. Between the jacket and trousers a man is looking at between seven and twelve pockets to choose from.

The problem with these pockets however, is that most of them are not functional, meaning they cannot be used. For instance stuffed jacket pockets always seem to make the jacket look misshapen and even trouser pockets can fall victim to the stuffed pockets look.

I wrote this article to let men know where to put their gear and how to do it in a way that does not look terrible. Upon finishing this article you will know what to do with your items each time you are forced to carry them.

The most clever way to keep your suits empty of your necessary items is to never put anything in them. Achieve this by using your coat to store your gear, or even your wife's purse if possible.

For men that do not have the option of using a jacket to store their belongings in a jacket there is help. However, you will still be relegated to keeping most of your items out of your jacket.

The first thing to keep in mind is that you will not be able to store anything other than a pocket square in your outside jacket pockets. Inside pockets can be utilized, but only for thin items that will not be visible through the jacket.

Pants can hide items in back pockets if the jacket is to cover the back pockets and you are comfortable with the way items feel when sitting on them. Remember that overstuffed back pockets will still bulge through a jacket at times.

When absolutely necessary you should use your front two trouser pockets to hold items like wallets and cell phones. Be sure to take all non-essential items out of your wallet to make it as flat as possible.
