There are several types of floods and one thing to do to keep yourself ready for that eventuality is to be aware of the minor and especially severe water disasters coming near to your place. Think of all the other devastating events that occurred in other places. It is always better to be prepared and know the source of a devastating one before it bursts through and possibly destroy your home and even the entire state.

One of the most destructive effects of water damage caused by this calamity is soil erosion. The unimaginable amount of water can severely damage or destroy fisheries, standing crops, livestock, and several granaries. Many roads can be swamped with major water damage. Land slides and debris slides are other effects too. This can be very dangerous situations for people who are residing in the affected locations since communication and other essentials can be cut off because of the damage. If potable water cannot be found in the aftermath, this could also result to additional casualties.

A flood, river, urban, and coastal flood are just some of the flood damage cleanup items this article will discuss. They are generally known as an overflow of water to the extent of submerging roads or land in a large area. These are the most common and devastating attacks of Mother Nature earth-wide.

What is a flash flood? This type comes attacking without the slightest warning as it is the fastest moving calamity to come to living things. This usually catches humans off guard and definitely unprepared as it moves quickly across the land. It is heartbreaking to witness the effects or experience one. A continuous rainfall, thunderstorms, tropical storms or any other storm surges that may occur repeatedly, are the usual causes. Dam failures are the worst effects that could severely destroy property and life in this type of deluge. The large amount of water stored in the dam somehow breaks free, dismantling down everything it comes across with. The water can be as high as twenty feet carrying along piles of debris from the structures it destroyed from the now covered path.

River floods are seasonal. This type may particularly occur on winter or spring. It is a natural flood occurrence when melting snow has come up with spring rains resulting to an unbalanced amount of water in the area and causing the onset of this calamity.

Another type is called urban flood which got its name from the urbanization that causes deforestation. Deforested land unfortunately decreases the soil's ability to absorb large quantity of water. This usually happens in commercial areas where forested areas have given way to high rise buildings and residential subdivisions.

Coastal floods are caused by great power of nature such as tidal waves and tsunamis.

These water damages can only be prevented by major changes too. Usually governments have the sole control and power to create laws on building constructions which lead to deforestation, construction of levees and dams, and changing lands to commercial areas from farmlands. Only then can people try and keep the balance in nature instead of going through further destruction to both human lives and the land we live in.
