Seeing Is Believing: Online Video Advertising for Small Businesses

A picture, they say, is worth a thousand words. And as far as advertising proverbs are concerned, this strongly sums up the importance of being able to convey complex messages in a short instant.

However, in a consumer age that is digitalized and switched on 24/7 to the global community via the wonders of the World Wide Web, a simple snapshot may no longer be enough. With increased competition and a multitude of media channels to choose from, the need for businesses to utilize increasingly dynamic and innovative methods to promote their wares has never been so important.

Indeed, the Internet has enabled many more businesses to go global with a simple website setup and a network connection. Furthermore, it has also encouraged countless companies to carefully consider how they are perceived - by current and potential clients - as it has opened up a whole new world of opportunities to businesses of all sizes, that was once the privilege of only the largest of organisations.

For example, with Television adverts - traditionally video was costly but the Internet has changed that. What's more, they have been considered to be very wise investments, given that the information that can be conveyed in a moving image is far richer than that of a static image and are broadcast to a huge amount of visitors. And with the advent of the Internet era, this has been made a whole lot easier for companies of all sizes; all that's needed is a basic video camera, an idea and an Internet connection.

Of course, in the world of the Internet, the video production isn't as much of an issue as some people may think. With television, it is important that the adverts really grab the viewer's attention, given that they are appealing to such a wide demographic at any one time. Online, however, there is a good chance that the person viewing the video will have actively searched for the company's service; and this is half the battle.

Given that the viewer is almost certainly interested already, it may just be a case of demonstrating the function of the product on offer to convince the consumer that this is indeed what they've been looking for. And this is one of the most cost-effective small business marketing tools that can be used to engage customers.

If a picture is worth a thousand words then this must surely mean that a moving picture is worth somewhat more. And in the age of the Internet, seeing really is believing when it comes to online video advertising.
