Quick and Easy Guide to Being Scene
The scene style has been around since the 80's. However, it was never as dramatic as it is today. Girls all over the world have adopted the scene look, and have shown this through their attitude, hair, and especially their clothing.
Scene girls usually dress in tight, skinny jeans. Skinny jeans can be many different colors - black, dark, bleached, and traditional. Some girls accessorize their jeans with belts that are studded, patterned, or with large buckles.
Most scene girls own band tees of mostly emo, rock, hardcore, or scene bands. Some common band tees include Alkaline Trio, My Chemical Romance, Fall Out Boy, and Taking Back Sunday. Many scene girls will wear graphic tees with many colors, mostly neon. Vintage tees are also popular. But more recently, scene girls are wearing tees with dinosaurs, skulls, robots, and cartoon characters. Some of the most popular cartoon characters used among scene style are Jack Skellington and Hello Kitty. Both of these characters have been used on clothing, jewelry, hair accessories, bags, and shoes.
Scene girls don't have to just wear jeans. They are also commonly seen wearing cute, short dresses, skirts, and shorts. When wearing these items, many scene girls will liven up their outfits with leggings, leg warmers, tights, or brightly colored socks, accompanied with either converse, flats, and sometimes, high heels.
Shoes are another important part of the scene style. Most scene girls will wear flats, converse, or Classic Vans Slip ons - either solid color or checkered. Large sunglasses, aviators, and more recently, retro style sunglasses are part of the scene style. They add an extra touch to the face, along with makeup. Colorful, exaggerated eye makeup is a dominant feature of the scene style. Many scene girls will use bright colors around their eyes. They also will use the "cat eye" style. Black eyeliner and false eyelashes play a big part in achieving this look.
A very dominant aspect of scene style are piercings. Many scene girls have gauges/plugs in their ears, and well as lip piercings or snakebites. Piercings on the nose, cheeks, and "bullrings," are also very common.
Basically, anything "cute" can be used as a part of scene girl clothing. But without the attitude, the scene style is incomplete. Scene girl attitude involves being confident, outgoing, and very into the music scene. Many scene girls can be found on myspace, with profiles that express their outgoing style and attitude.
To get that perfect scene style you want, play around with different clothes and colors. Try different makeup styles and experiment with your hair a bit. Some stores that are popular for selling this scene style are Claire's, Hot Topic, and Pacsun. Go shopping, and be creative with your style!
