Advice About Free Online Marketing Workshops
Whether you talk about internet marketing, network marketing or direct marketing, in the end it is all marketing. There are differences between the three, but the goal is always the same: attract potential customers in order to sell a product or service.
One of the fabulous things about the Internet is that thousands of websites exist whose main function is to sell courses in online marketing. Before you pull out your credit card, however, you should be aware that many low or no cost programs.
There are excellent websites that offer totally free online marketing workshops. If you are going to become an internet marketer, do yourself a favor and take advantage of these offers.
Before the personal computer and Internet, direct marketing held center stage. Someone would knock on your door or ring the doorbell. A salesman would pull out a volume of an encyclopedia and explain why it was imperative that you own it.
Or they might empty a bag of dirt on your clean floor. Before you could regain your composure, the salesman whipped out his trusty vacuum cleaner and cleaned up every last speck of dirt. They demonstrated the amazing efficiency of their product. Who could resist?
You probably deal with direct marketers several times every day without thinking about it. The butcher, the baker, the candlestick maker and every business encounter in between is a marketing transaction. In a consumer society, sales and marketing inevitably become the necessary links that make our lives easier.
What would we do, after all, without a car, appliances, clothes, food or shelter? The most basic necessities require marketing products and selling them.
Network and internet marketing are merely refinements of direct marketing. Their advantage is a vast and easily accessible audience. It is worthwhile to understand the pros and cons associated with each. Network marketing is also known as multilevel marketing.
While MLM is a legitimate business structure, it has also acquired a bit of a bad reputation. People have used the structure to promote illegal ponzi schemes.
A legitimate MLM business promotes and sells real products. People engaged in the business up and down the MLM line will make real money. The success of the business relies on customers, both new and repeat, who want the product and are willing to pay for it.
A ponzi scheme, on the other hand, is structured to enrich a few people at the very top. The further away from the top tier you are, the less opportunity there is to make money. The system depends on each recruit becoming a recruiter to fill the next tier down. It also requires that each person in the system "buy" products every month.
But the product is not really marketed beyond those already in the system. Most of the money accrued monthly filters up. The people on the lowest tiers make little or nothing, while the people on the top make a bundle. Ponzi schemes are illegal. Don't waste your time and effort with something that has no sustainability.
There is nothing wrong with legitimate MLM marketing. Yes, the people who have been in the business the longest and have healthy downlines will earn more than the newcomers. That is how most business works regardless of its marketing model.
If you work for a company that sells washing machines, the upper management, directors, vice presidents and supervisors will all make more money than the lower rung sales people if sales are good. Commissions are based on total sales up and down the line.
Internet marketing has evolved to take advantage of the power of the Internet. It can easily bring you and your product face to face with thousands, perhaps even millions of people. It is highly adaptable to a network marketing strategy. A key factor in internet marketing is how successfully you drive internet users to your website.
The more creative you are in attracting potential customers, the more successful you are likely to become. This requires a well planned traffic strategy that utilizes a variety of advertising methods. Without a well planned strategy to drive traffic to you, it is unlikely enough people will find your website to produce the sales you want.
MLM businesses use internet marketing strategies to promote and sell their product. In this sense, they become an new entity, the parts of which are difficult to distinguish from the whole. That is why MLM and internet marketing are more similar in nature than they are distinct.
The importance of a comprehensive marketing strategy to your success cannot be overstated. If you need training in this arena, get it. Take advantage of the free online marketing workshops available. It's the smart thing to do.
