Should You Wear A Silk Suit Or A Cotton Suit
The suit is diverse in style, color, design, and even material. Each suit can be made from cotton, silk, polyester, wool, cashmere, or even a combination of all of them. I wrote this article to explain two of these types of suits to you.
Billions of garments have been created using cotton. This material has been around for hundreds of years and can be found in both new and old suits. Summer suits tend to be dominated by this material.
The major advantage of cotton is its breath-ability. This means that the fabric lets body heat escape the garment while simultaneously letting cool air in. Also this material does not have to be professionally dry cleaned and can be washed at home.
Drawbacks include poor insulating properties and the ability to easily wrinkle. The poor insulation issue isn't a big deal when wearing a summer suit, but the quick forming wrinkles are detrimental to a good looking suit.
The silk garment is one of the oldest garments in the known world. This fabric was first used over 4,000 years ago in the country of China. You will see it used in a multitude of clothing including suits and tuxedos.
Silk suits have the benefit of being versatile in all weather. These suits will keep you warm in the winter and cool in the summer. Also you will find that anything made out of silk feels lovely on your skin.
Silk is not very durable which is its worst flaw. This material simply does not make a good every day work suit. You will find that it can not tolerate moisture and will stain quite easily.
In conclusion your best option for a heavily used summer suit is probably cotton due to its better durability. Silk is better for more formal occasions where you will not have much wear and tear on your clothing.
